Some people (nobody here) only look at their balances when they get their monthly statements. The 6-8 weeks is in case it misses the first statement and is on the second statement.

1. I redeemed the package on Nov 2
2. Credits showed up in online account on Nov 8 (with post date of Nov 2) ^
3. RR tickets issued Nov 8 ^
Didn't suck for me, but only an isolated experience...
