Flew NWA FC LAX-HNL (flight 91) last night.
Flight was OK but nothing to write home about.
Served mai-tai's before take off.
Standard NWA FC seats with footrests -- 24/24 FC seats taken.
Served by 2 flight attendants -- functional but not overly friendly or welcoming. Did not address anyone by name.
Dinner was small chix breast with sauce, green beans and a triangle of carbs -- couldn't figure out if it was rice or potatoes. Also had salad and chocolate cake.
They have movies on Mainland-HNL flights but they couldn't get ours to work so they gave everyone a $25.00 e-certificate when we exited the plane (that was nice).
About an hour before landing, a hot chocolate cookie and not-too-cold glass of milk was served.
All in all, not too bad, not too good. I'm looking forward to comparing to CO's service tonight.

Definitely go with Delta. I've never flown NW to Hawaii but their domestic first within the continental u.s. sucks. No movies and the seats (even though bigger) I can't even fall asleep in

I think much depends on the aircraft you get (seatguru.com might be able to shed some light on that, if you know it). With NW, I'm not crazy about the DC-9s on the ATL-DTW run, but if you get 757s on longer hauls then the seats in those are OK.
NW definitely doesn't try to be tops when it comes to food. Seems like every meal they have was designed primarily to meet a cost ceiling. Would rate CO highest among DL/NW/CO on that, but you want to have the bird in the hand with CO, as I'd rate their coach on the same route the lowest.

If you're choosing Delta vs. Northwest (the MSP-HNL on the DC-10) and do appreciate a big of legroom for an 8+ hour flight, I'd highly suggest going with Northwest. The pictures I've posted above of the respective F cabins are the only thing you need to see.
If you truly want a great meal service to/from the islands, then you should cough up the extra money and fly Continental. There's no question about this.

I have enjoyed First Class on both DL and NW - had the opportunity to fly first class on the overnight flight back from Hawaii on NW - HNL to MSP - the amount of room was significantly better than the DL flight - and this was one of the best night's sleep I have ever had on a plane. We didn't leave Hawaii until something like 9 p.m. so a large meal was the least of my worries - I was hoping to fall asleep ASAP since I would be losing several hours - and the amount of space on the NW plane was wonderful.

The pictures of F on the NW DC-10 were very helpful. Can anyone tell me the maximum angle of recline on these seats? I know someone mentioned they were almost flat but I didn't see verification of the specifics of this.
