Netflix Bonus Question

This query isn't airline or program specific (other than to be specific about Netflix!)

Does Netflix give out bonuses only once in person's lifetime or once per program?

I bought someone a three month Netflix gift membership last year for Christmas and got the MyPoints bonus for it, which was the best bonus available at the time. Now there are various airlines offering sign up bonuses and I can't tell whether I would be eligible for another.

Experiences?

I signed up for Netflix through United's website (carefully following all instructions) and I never received the miles. I followed up with at least 10 e-mails to Netflix customer service, and I never got the miles. Netflix's product is great, I wouldn't necessarily count on the miles, though.

If I have done two bonuses, but I was pretty careful: I used my real name in both, of course, but used my work address in one and my home address in the other, and different credit cards each time. I got both bonuses. They say you can't get two bonuses "per household" or something like that, so I did this to comply with their rules. Eventually I switched my work address so my DVDs would come to my home, after the bonus had posted.

Whether they really enforce the one bonus limit if you use the same address twice, I do not know - but I'd like to hear others' experiences.

Also, I agree Netflix SUCKS about posting bonuses. Both times I had to spend a heck of a long time tracking down what I was promised. They are absolutely unreliable about posting.

I had a similar problem in that I only got part of the bonus. I called UA and they of course said I needed to call Netflix. Netflix offered me one free month since it was easier for them to process.

Got two different Netflix bonuses into two different UA accounts (@ different addresses i.e. home and work). There was even an error on the first bonus as I got the extra bonus for using UA MP Visa even though I used an Amex card.

Wife also got another Netflix bonus to her UA acct. using the same home address.

Did not have to chase anyone for either bonus miles and all posted within 4-6 weeks.

I was amazed to receive 8K for signing up for Netflix and trying it for a month! This was either a mistake or a great bonus (all for $10):
Date Activity Actual Total
7-Jun-05 NETFLIX EXTRA MILE PROMO 4,000
27-Jun-05 NETFLIX VISA SIGN-UP BONUS 4,000

I've used them both at different times. Signed up for each with different mileage promotions. Services were very similar as far as ease, turn around time etc., but this could vary depending on where you live. Advantage of Blockbuster is that you also get 2 instore movie rentals per month, so if you live near a store it is a nice option (If I recall correctly these, coupons could also be used for video games, so if you have kids that rent games that would be a definite advantage).

I also signed up through the United site for Netflix, and Netflix refused to give the miles - they told me I was lying and had signed up through their site. On that had to cancel and was refunded for the 2- 3 months I'd paid. Horrible customer service. Don't waste your time.

Smile Geez...

Reading this thread leaves me with such a warm, furry feeling toward netflix...yea, think i'll sign up for a mileage bonus...NOT. To think about the hours i've wasted over the years in trying to get various vendors to post miles for which i've followed the directions exactly, and recalling the number of times I was told that i hadn't (which i had), and that i was lying (which i wasn't)...if they can't get their act together to administer these promotions correctly, they shouldn't do them, but hey, i'm preachin' to the choir (well, it IS Sunday)

For those who are Netflix members, be sure to check their settlement of a class action lawsuit: http://www.netflix.com/Settlement

You may be entitled to some benefits. Current members get one free month of an upgraded service. (You need to cancel that upgrade after the month, or they'll keep you subscribed to the upgraded version.) Former members can get a free month (but will have to cancel if they don't want to get billed after that month.)
