Sorry about that Burkey. I don't think that there are too many folks here who have the time or the inclination to check anything but the miles boards with any regularity.

See, this is why it all gets confusing. This topic is neither about getting miles or points, yet it is in Miles. It's not about dining, and has nothing to do with airports. Doesn't really qualify for travel either.
Does that mean that yet another category has to be started to cover the topics about where the topics go?

The origional post is reminder of the format for FlyerTalk. That's what we're currently operating under, that's the format implemented by FlyerTalk's owner, Randy Petersen, and as tested by a group of FlyerTalkers who have been on the boards since day one, three years ago.
If you have suggestions to change the format of FlyerTalk, I suggest posting them under the "Suggestions" form, at the bottom of forum summary page.

This thread should have been locked, to show fair application of rules, immediately after its first posting.
A locked thread can be accessed to read its content, but there can be no replies.
I can understand that although it could be argued that this thread does not belong here, an exception could be made because its purpose was informative.
However, allowing this thread to remain open so that many more (just like me right now) can continue to ramble and post about things that are not miles relates is IMO ironic.

The trouble with resisting temptation is..... that you may not get another chance.

At best, the process is cumbersome, which inhibits use/traffic/activity.
As for allowing the debate to continue in MilesBuzz where it first erupted or not, we run into the essential quandary being discussed: move the debate to the Suggestions board and it dies and doesn't/won't get the traction/feedback it deserves.
Maybe it can now be effectively moved because it has exposure/involvement, but moving it is still is likely to impede participation/feedback from new posters vs. rehashing by the same group of posters that has already expressed their opinions.
In addition, locking these discussions is likely to further fuel the flames...even those that have mentioned that the topic does not belong in MilesBuzz and are FOR aggressive moderation have tended to do so in a tongue and cheek fashion.
I support leaving these threads open here to provide maximum exposure and invite the widest possible feedback.

The simplest way appears to be to click on the file folder "Forums" at the top of the page (or the word "Forums" at the bottom of the page). It would be nice if it were accessible through the other points on the page where we customarily switch to other sections of the board.

Even without the smiley faces, my originial comments about the thread needing a new forum was meant to be taken in jest, it certainly wasn't meant to be taken seriously.
I just back arrow to the forum page, then one more click and I'm back at the page asking which forum to choose. I find that the easiest way, since it's usually only one more click back from where I end up when I am done with everything in this thread.

I can do that manuever in 3 clicks.
1. Forums.
2. FT Travel.
3. TravelBuzz.
and then three more to get back...
And to think, Amazon has it down to 3 clicks to buy just about anything.

I use Miscrosoft Internet Explorer as my web browser. To navigate easily between the first page of each forum group (e.g. FT Miles and FT Travel), I have "bookmarked" each of these first pages and then I can easily access them in the pull-down menu of my "Favorites" in IE Explorer.
I hope this helps. Contact me by e-mail if you need further explanation. Happy hopping/posting/lurking.

I'm confused. I posted a question about disposable cell phones on OMNI here. Are you saying I belongs on the Travel forum? Would you be very explicit, with examples, of what goes *here* on OMNI, In The News, and MilesBuzz and what should go in those same categories in the Travel Forum.
And then when I select the new posts option, I need to do that forum by forum? I had the impression that some of the broad categories cut across fora.
Thanks,
Sylvia
