Finding stopover cities
Hi there. I am keen on flying to Memphis but cannot get any cheap flights. The cheapest I find is $350. I found a ticket for $183 to DC with a stopover in Memphis. I am going to book this and not do the second leg ie. get off in Memphis. My question is "is there any easy way of determining what routes use a specific city as a stopover?" Thanks

THIS iS NOT A GOOD THING TO DO.
1. If you check luggage, you have to check to your final destination. You may be in MEM, your bag would be in DC.
2. If you miss the second leg of your flight, your return will be cancelled, and you will have to buy a one-way ticket to get home (big bucks).

I assume you're flying out of LAX? The problem is not so much that flying to MEM is expensive, it's that flying to D.C. for $183 round trip is really cheap.

What you doing is called 'hidden-city ticketing' by the industry. If you have a one-way ticket, or possible cancellation of the return is not an issue, and you have carry-on, you should be OK.

If it's a round-trip ticket, I too would be concerned about having the return portion cancelled. You definitely do not want to pay for a notoriously ridiculously high Memphis unrestricted fare -- and pay a $100 change fee.
You may want to try flying into Little Rock or Jackson, Tenn., instead. These put you 2 hours and 1 1/2 hours outside of Memphis respectively. Since Little Rock is a Southwest city, you may be able to pull down a $200 round trip fare.
I would check Delta's web site. Delta and Northwest like to mess with each other in that part of the country -- cheap fares on Delta to Memphis (Northwest's hub) and cheap fares on Northwest to Cincinnati (Delta's hub).
