5000 miles from MCI - no switching

I am with MCI (post bonus period) and called them to see what they can offer before I switch LD carrier, they gave me 1000 miles p/month for 5 months. No minimums or monthly fees, miles are just to stay with them!! Nice thing is they work with numerous airlines, a good way to top off an account.
Nothing to loose and NO hassles (I just hope they start posting soon). They even said they will mail confirmation (ammunition just in case)

Tried with Sprint (on my second line), but no luck.

Probably this was posted before, but I thought it's a good reminder for the newbies (and oldies).

They refused to do it for me, and I'm a pretty good customer! They said that I had received enough bonus miles already. (That's not true if you compare my situation to others' that I have read about here, but that's what they said -- and it was their final answer.)

I've never ever pulled the long distance switch tricks that some people have. A year ago I tried getting MCI to give me some miles to stay with them. I spoke to just about everyone there. I finally spoke to the "saves department".

The saves dept. refused to fork over miles to keep me. Instead they offered a relatively low rate and an hour free per month for 6 months. I stayed for 7 months.

I then switched to OPEX Long Distance and pay 4.5 cents per minute anytime, 4 cents in state and am happy with them.

Next MCI calls and offers stuff. This is the only telemarketer that I have been willing to talk to. An agent calls and I request 20,000 AA miles to switch back. She tells me that 10,000 AA miles is the max. I said that I would consider it upon seeing it in writing. No written offer ever shows up!

Two months later, another MCI agent calls and offers 5,000 AA miles. I tell him that I've already been offered 10,000 AA miles but that MCI couldn't even deliver on the offer in writing. This agent tells me that this is because 5,000 is the maximum allowed.

I said a good bye to him and MCI.

I now believe the many posters that claim MCI to be "full of it"!

Frankly, I'd believe the offer only after seeing the miles post, never because some telemarketer or MCI agent (they too are telemarketers) offered them!

LV2FLY I'd try again with Sprint. On 7/25 they gave me 3000 NWA miles just to stay. I called them and asked for a Management support person. I explained to her that I was being canvased by other cos. to switch for miles. She offered 3000 miles and no time commitment!
