Blind Melon, welcome to FT.

MHO: You have to be desperate to use this points.com. The speed and accuracy of fulfillment of the exchange has yet to be proven. The transfer ratios stink.
Your profile says you are from Toronto, which is also where points.com is based -- any connections?

I am planning on using Points.com to exchange five Midwest Express miles for one AAdvantage mile. I signed up for an account today, which means that in a couple of days I should be able to do this. From what I gather, the cost is six dollars and the loss of four of my beloved FF miles. However, it looks simple. I hope I'm right.

No connection.. i was reading'bout it in Macleans and the Globe & Mail, just wanted some feedback from people who actually used the site. It's a good concept, too bad the exchange rates are so poor.

Although I've only played around with potential exchanges, I really like the Points.com concept. Once their exchange network of partners is built out (it appears that they are really in a soft launch phase now), they promise a 72 hours maximum transaction turn around which is important for those of us who never plan more than a week ahead. Also, even at a relatively poor exchange rate, I'd be happy to clear out some 10K mile balances in have in 3 or 4 of my minor programs.
If you can plan ahead, the HHonors RewardExchange offers better exchange rates, is free, but is very slow in processing the transaction (about a month).

I initiated a transfer from Alaska to AAdvantage on May 1, and it showed up this morning, May 7. From my online AA statement:
05/01/2001 POINTS.COM MILEAGE TRANSFER 2 2
05/01/2001 POINTS.COM MILEAGE TRANSFER 2 2
