Time to update profile at Hhonors

Just logged onto my Hilton account this morning and was able to update my profile twice for a total of 2,000 points. It's a new quarter!

There is a related thread in the Hilton forum, including a different form of "double dipping."

I have never been able to get the points by going into their site through hhonors.com. To get points for upgrading your preferences, use this link:

Thanks, however, I feel bad doing this.
Hilton has a "bug" in their system, and is it right that we use this loophole?
Next, one day Hilton will wake up and delete all the nice points! If I remember right, somebody posted in another threat that Hilton did it already.
My update-points are not erased - not yet.

Don't feel bad doing this. It is totally legitimate!!

OK, kind of a "how do you feel about it" question...Are you OK with us updating our profile twice every quarter just to get the 1000 points? I, for one, do not wish to abuse this feature, but I have to confess to feelin' a little bit guilty when I do it.

Jeff Diskin
Well, I honestly hadn't thought about. I think we should have enough dynamic information in there to make it worthwhile to check often. And we are happy to give incentives so that you'll be more inclined to keep your account profile up to date, and get used to managing things that way. It makes us more accurate, enables us to serve you better, and is more efficient... so yes, we are okay if you go change your profile for an extra 1,000 points...and in the next few months, you'll see some additional reasons to provide more profile information, making it more worth your while than just the 1,000 points!

I don't feel the least bit guilty. Hilton has nice hotels but my experience with their rewards program is that they are far from consistent in crediting my stays. I had a $1,000 stay at the Berlin Hilton last year that never got credited despite writing two letters and phoning several times, eventually I gave up and the time for retroactive credit is long since past. My feeling is that this loophole makes up for the fact that I need to follow up so much of my activity with letters and phone calls to get proper credit. And based on the posts I read in this forum I don't think I am the only one who has experienced inconsistent results from HHonors.

I can't get mine to work. What am I doing wrong? I am only a "Blue" member with 3000 points, could it be my low balance that prevents me from getting these extra 2000 point freebies?

Thanks in advance for your help.

The hilton site for profile updates has been up and down both yesterday and today, so don't give up, it's not at your end.

As to feeling guilty, they just ran two 50,000 point promotions for nothing more then four stays that would have usually been less then 750 points each. They certainly can afford to give out a couple thousand. It's actually funny, when I went in I saw things that needed updating (credit card exp dates for example), so this may actually save them time and money.

As cordelli mentioned, the HH site has been up and down for several days, but after many attempts, was able to finally get through for the profile updates for my wife and myself.

Thanks everyone, for the reminders, and thanks Hilton, for the points.

Persistance!!
