I can live more economically. I will request a mere $10 from each FTer. Please PM me for payment details.

I used to own a very large mobile DJ service. Believe it or not, a stuipd request like this came in about once a week. "I have 3 kids to support and can't afford and extravagant wedding, will you DJ it for free?" People often call the newspaper and get sympathy and the journalist starts working for them looking for donations.

Wonder why she doesn't just call the airlines and ask for free tickets out of goodwill. Oh wait, maybe it's because they're in business to make money.

I get requests from Charity Groups to 'lower my price' or 'can't you do it for free'. I give them the best price i can without loosing my shirt, house, car, and business. Whenever I get mailers, calls, soliciations from other groups for 'giving' money to them for thier group, I tend to say sorry, I already give more than enough to other Charity Groups, tell your meeting planner to call me.

So where is the part where I get free/discounted things? Dosen't 'good go around'?

She should have known:

If the OP spent a little more time reading this post:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=441986

She'd figure out that a snowball had a better chance in hell than getting sympathy or tickets.

Also, if I do know of someone drowning in miles, I'd certainly be keeping that info to myself so I can fly my own family to Italy @:-)

BTW, welcome to Flyertalk!

Where you are are welcomed to ask reasonable questions and contribute with your own miles; just please don't ask strangers for theirs unless you plan on naming your kid after him/her

Instead of flying to Italy, how about a wedding in Las Vegas at Caesar's Palace, this way it won't be such an economic burden

You still get the Roman ambiance, more or less

Hey, my baby girl is about to arrive, would you all like to register for her Upromise account

Why not Venice, or Lake Como

I'd recommend Venetian or Bellagio... ancient Rome is so pass!

She could then have a picture of her and hubby to be on a gondola ride, much cheaper than seeing the real thing! Plus this time of year, it may not smell all that nice in the real Venice

Congrats on your upcoming bundle of joy... I'd like to register for Upromise, but I'm a bit low on miles and dollars!

My Daughter is going to Princeton. It's a huge financial burden on us. If you would all give me all of your FF miles and Hotel points, I would have to spend less on travel, and would have more money to pay the Princeton Tuition. Please don't disappoint my daughter's dream of a great college education!

Have a nice day.

If there isn't a rule against posts of this nature, there ought to be. Or FT will soon look like the streets of my fair city - full of panhandlers who have little of value to offer.

Moderator, I implore you - please close this thread!

I agree that the OP violates at least the spirit of FT, if not the letter of the TOS. But I don't think it is indicative that we will be overrun by oodles more - afterall the OP didn't even receive a crumb from anyone.

How do you know? Maybe she got a PM from someone who fell for her story but doesn't want to be publicly thrashed...

We see a number of these silly begging posts every day on craigslist. Lack of response does not seem to be a deterrent. There is no shortage of people looking for handouts in this country.

Good point. Any do-gooder who admitted that publicly would never live it down.

OK. You may be right about this as well. Maybe I just didn't want this thread locked yet because I have been enjoying the various responses.

As long as the humorous tint stays in the thread, there is no real harm here. Obviously at this point, the OP recognizes this "plan" will have a snowball's chance here on FT.

Play nice!

Thanks for keeping this open! This is (almost) as much fun as the "I charged $3,400 in expenses to my client for desktop support, was that wrong?" thread last week.
