Award tix using USAir or Delta?

Just topped off an old US Air account (using SPG points) to 25,000 miles. Have a Delta account with 14,000 miles which I can also top off with SPG points or by transferring miles from my father's no-longer-used account. With current bankruptcy, possible merger situations, which should I use first?

Burn US first. Even if DL goes bankrupt, they're not going to disappear. You planning on flying out of SAT or redeeming for a ticket on United. US doesn't fly here into AUS.

Thanks for the input. The US miles were earned when we lived on the east coast. We use them for United flights from AUS, but I'll check SAT for US options, too.

US Airways only flies out of DFW and IAH in Texas, so if you want to burn DM miles, you'll have to redeem for UA flights out of AUS or SAT.

Just to agree that I'd definitely burn US miles before DL miles. DL is further from liquidation than US is. tls
