Let's see, now. FlyerTalker posts same self-congratulatory message in several forums, serving no purpose other than to feed his/her ego and incite others. Other FlyerTalkers voice their objections. Then come the calls to "let the thread die." Deja vu.

FYI..tvl4free is a close personal friend of mine..I know him well and he has the best interests of the board in mind. He has helped me and others on my Baht Runs and
without his valuable skills..we all would be at a loss! Please try to understand he does this for no personal gain. Thank you...off of my soapbox..for now.

I recieved a nice email from travel4free. Lets mark this down as it could have been better phrased (theoretical should we post in general would be my suggestion) and move on.

I was not going to post in this thread because I do not do mileage runs. But after reading the thread I felt it neccessary to post just to be able to agree with MRKEY. Although I do not consider tvl4free a personal friend I have met and talked with him at FT events about things that FTers usually talk about. Have to agree with MRKEY's sentiments in his post. I have reread the original post on this thread and it states And nowhere do I find a statement that says at the end of the discussion he will post. It seems to me, and speaking only as someone who does not go on mileage runs, that the most logical arguements were presented by those that felt the information should not be posted but be distributed in other manners.
What troubles me the most of this thread though is that nobody responded, and if I missed the response i apologize, to tvl4free's comments On his first statement about the for profit profiteers; maybe it is only me but it seems that lately the climate here at FT has been increasingly more and more let me get mine and let me get the most and screw the rest. You see it more and more in 1st posters who do not even say any more "Thanks FT for being here." or some such similar statement. Instead it is gimme gimme gimme. As TravelManKen had posted a couple of weeks ago about the - CouponConnection -, and I am sorry that I did not post in that thread, many individuals now post just to get what they can from the rest of us. (My apologies if I am paraphrasing)
The more troubling statement from tvl4free's about being burned, and once again the fact that nobody responded, would lead any reasonable person I think to come to the conclusion that they need to do something in a different manner. I for one and glad that tvl4free has chosen to do so.
Sorta of reminds me of the part from the book Hackers where Gates comes to town in the 60's and questions why the early computer users are only paying for hardware and will not pay for software. Isn't there some intellectual value in the developed coding he questions? It seems to me that what tvl4free has developed also has some intellectual value - but it also seems to me that just as there are some that will pirate software - there are some that will pirate the rest of FT and ultimately I believe it will cost more for those of us who are not into ripping each other off.
Sorry to ramble on here but felt it neccessary to get it stated. I for one am looking forward to meeting tvl4free at some other FT event because although I do not go on mileage runs the information he has provided on these boards have still provided me personally with savings; eg the reading of routing rules, the millenium hotel, and others.

T4F just asked a seemingly innocent question. So for all his trouble he gets the JFK conspiracy crowd bashing him.

It's another example of flyertalkers disecting every little in and out of this thread. The real question is why are some so intent of making a mountain out of a molehill?

As for the group that that may meet at a get together, there are a few benefits to coming. Otherwise there is PLENTY of helpful information available here on FLYERTALK to maximize your miles and points.

Well, if you spell it "baited", it came from the joke about a cat who ate some cheese then waited with "baited" breath for a mouse to come by.

The saying, "waiting with bated breath" uses the word "bated" meaning "to reduce the force of intensity of; to take away" (related word: abated) - the meaning is to hold one's breath or to barely breathe (due to anticipation, worry, etc.)
