AMEX MR/TWA announcement
Please forgive the cross-post if it doesn't belong here...
Just got an email from AMEX Membership Rewards:
"Important Membership Rewards Program Announcement
As of midnight EDT on July 3, 2001, TWA will no longer participate in the Membership Rewards program as a result of its transaction with American Airlines. This means that you may continue to redeem Membership Rewards points for miles in the TWA Aviators Program through July 3, 2001.
-----------
OK - does anyone have a definitive "yes" from the AAdvantage people that my Aviators points will simply merge with AAdvantage? Will the 2 simply become one program?
Thanks,
cpd

There is a yes from American that TWA miles will become one. They are using the existing terms and conditions of the TWA for a six-month notice to absorb the program. So, time for some 'financial planning' with AmEx and TWA which will soon become AA miles.

So the question still remains "will the transferred miles from TWA count towards lifetime AA miles for mm status".
The assumption is yes, but I believe that question still needs to be answered.

Randy,
Have you heard anything re: expiration of miles -- more than 100K of my TW banked miles have been there for years --- haven't flown TW in more than 5 years... my status on the others sort of kept me loyal to the other 3... so I guess what I'm wondering is if AA will look at transferred miles as "new" to AAdvantage, or will AA try to make them expire in 6 months since they are technically "old" ?
Thanks again for staying on top of this.

As long as there is some activity on your account every 3 years on other airlines, your miles don't expire.
