Otherwise, let me know the details by PM and I'll do it for you.

Change made! This is the Platinum MC, issued directly through Capital One. I also have a Capital One visa, and it also does not incur any fees while abroad, at least not yet.

Commerce One Debit/ATM Card!

The Commerce One debit and ATM card does not impose a fee. I have a printout from Commerce One bank received from an employee that states Commerce One does not pass on the 1% surcharge by visa to the customer if they have >$2500 in their account.

Warning: ATM withdrawls do not work in China at the moment. They claim to be working on the issue. Debit charges do work though.

weird.. I didn't know Commerce ATM doesn't work in China. Good to know, as I'm going there in a month.. but I can't imagine why it doesn't work. Wrong network?

There are MANY different banks with the word "Commerce" in their name. It sounds like bidhere23 is referring to "Commerce One," which I can't seem to find on the internet.

The biggest Commerce Bank is probably the one in the NJ/NYC area:

But don't forget about all these:

Citibank is going to charge the 1% foreign transaction fee for ATM withdraw very soon.

Pretty sure he was referring to "Commerce Bank", which definitely imposes a $2500 minimum in your account to get the ATM reimbursements...

I have an account there. The $2500 minimum balance only applies to reimbursements of other banks' ATM-owner fees. The bank itself charges nothing for using its ATM card at fee-free ATMs, regardless of your balance. Commerce's Visa/Plus ATM cards are excellent for foreign ATM use as long as the ATM itself doesn't charge a fee.

I hope not. A lot of us use Capital One as our primary card for making purchases overseas because of this benefit.

Citibank ATM

They started this month. Here is my current experience in Chile:

- No ATM fee
- around 1% or slightly less to the real time xe.com quote
- NEW. An additional 1% charge on the above total that shows up as "FOREIGN FEE" on your statement

Summary, Citibank ATM card now charges around 2% on foreign exchange.

Do you pay this citibank fee if you use a citibank atm overseas? If you are a citibank customer.

Never have been charged an ATM fee at any bank's ATM machine in Argentina or Chile and the exchange fee also does not vary (Citibank Argentina and Citibank Chile are actually separate from Citibank USA when it comes to ATM use).

EasyJet rejected my B of A Platinum Debit card

claiming the card number does not match with card type (Visa debit card) selected.

They charged L1 for Visa debit card transaction, but L4.95 for all types of credit card transaction.

I called B of A, the CSR said there is not even an attempt to put thru the transaction - he said the card is good and there is no restriction being put on it. I just used the card to deposit checks only a few weeks ago so I know the card is an active card.

I start to think EasyJet just simply wont let you use debit card, so they can get money from the minimum charge of L4.95 of using credit card !

I'm pretty sure that when you use a US-based debit card (e.g., a Visa Check card) to make a point-of-sale purchase outside the US, the merhant considers the transaction a credit card transaction, even through from your perspective it seems like a debit transaction. I'm not sure if easyjet.com has the ability to take US-based debit cards except as if they were credit cards.

I haven't thought about that. Reading the post from rbAA a few pages back, he said for the first time there is 3% charge on the purchases he made using his B of A Plantinum debit card made in China. Obviously he has been using this debit card for purchases to avoid currency conversion fee and now is no longer the case (0 currency conversion fee), at least in China.

Oh well, at least B of A said there is no charges going thru - at first I worried about if the charges went thru but I got no ticket ... I am going to use Schwab's MBNA credit card to buy the tickets then.

Did you get this in the mail? I still haven't received this notice.
