Zero foreign transaction fees

The new Hyatt Visa from Chase foreign transaction fees are waived when making international purchases with this card.

Besides low forex transactions?

Of course a lot of businesses overseas won't take Amex.
I assume you are asking about the Chairman Card. It is very similar to Amex Platinum, with slightly different programs. You get Hilton Gold, some airline discounts, Priority Pass, concierge service etc. Most likely if you never thought Platinum was worth it, you aren't gonna like Chairman either.

Capital One foreign transaction alerts are the best!

I use Capital One exclusively when traveling in Europe because of the excellent exchange rate and no added fees. But the feature I recently have become addicted to is the foreign transaction alert which is an e-mail showing the US$ conversion. Most of the time the e-mail will arrive to my Blackberry when I am still standing at the cash register! I just find this to be very useful to someone on the road spending foreign currency.

Not sure if this has been discussed, but with a Citigold ATM card (which is also a debit Mastercard) you can use that as a Mastercard internationally with no forex fee. (at least they don't show any forex fees - and original amounts aren't listed on the statement - so I might call to verify).

The CitiGold account specifically list Waived foreign exchange fee (if you use the debit card). Pity the FX isn't waived for a linked credit card. ;-)
Open your Citigold interest checking account with a $500 minimum deposit8. There's no monthly service fee for the first two statement cycles. After that, we'll continue to waive the monthly fee if the combined average balance of your eligible linked accounts is:

* $100,000 or more across all your linked Citi accounts
OR
* $250,000 or more if your Citibank first mortgage is included in the total relationship.

Otherwise, a $25 monthly service fee will apply. *

*Waived annual fees on participating credit cards.#
#Participating credit cards include: Citi Platinum Select/AAdvantage World Matercard, Citi Premier Pass - Elite Level. The Citigold account must be open and in good standing for the fee waiver to remain in effect.
*Waived foreign exchange fee (if you use the debit card)
*Free AAdvantage Debit Card (1 mile/$) - which has a 4k signup bonus

I just got a notice in the mail that my State Farm Rewards Visa is going to charge 3% fee for international transactions, along with other changes, as a result of the recent Federal Regulations. Thanks Mr Obama!

Edit: I have scanned the relevant page from the notice, but I don't know how to attach it to my post. It does not seem to let me.

I, too, believe everything the bank sends me in the mail. Remember, the bank is your friend. @:-)

You think that's bad? How's this-the Yankees aren't even going to the World Series!

2012 can't come soon enough for me.

I'll be traveling to China a lot next year and am thinking to open a checking account with either Capital One or Schwab so I can get cash. Their websites aren't very specific and the phone representatives aren't much better.

I know both banks reimburse ATM fees. Do they do this even it's no broken out as a seperate fee by the ATM?
Do the banks also reimburse the currency conversion fee Visa or Mastercard charge? Capital One used to do this, but not sure if it's still in effect.
How are the exchange rates from these banks? I wonder if the lack of fees is made up by a poor exchange rate.

Can't speak to CapOne checking, but Schwab Checking and CapOne credit cards are both truly fee free. Schwab won't automatically reimburse ATM fees that aren't reported separately by the ATM owning bank, but if you save your ATM receipt and it shows an odd number of RMB being withdrawn, you should be able to get it reimbursed by mailing in the receipt. That is, if Chinese ATMs even charge ATM fees (I haven't been to China in several years, but as of 2002 I had never encountered an ATM owner fee in China).

Mahasamatman, are you referring to the Visa/Matercard imposed fees or the 3rd party bank ATM fee?

From http://www.capitalone.com/directbank...P_C1_03_T_SP29

Access to more than a million ATMs worldwide
We don't charge ATM fees at more than a million ATMs worldwide. If another bank charges you, we refund up to $10 per month.
