Advance warning for raising elite qualification levels?
Hi all -
Some of us over on the AC board are putting our names to a letter to protest recent changes to the Aeroplan program and, as the letter writer, I thought I'd turn to this forum for help...
We're miffed because AP has split one of their tiers into two sub-tiers based on miles flown. The lower of these sub-tiers is not receiving any type of benefits package this year, beyond a * Alliance Silver card, the ability to preselect seats and a duty free coupon. We understand that FF benefits are constantly changing, especially in today's climate, but what really angered us was that Aeroplan did not announce these changes until last week. Many of us, had we known about the new threshold by October or November, would have done a MR to push us over the new threshold.
Our "we are disappointed" letter would, of course, be much stronger if we could point to other instances of airlines raising qualification levels and informing their FFers well in advance.
So.. can anyone tell me which FF programs have raised elite qualification levels in the past few years and how much warning was given to the customers? I understand BA made some changes but I haven't got specifics, so I'd appreciate details on this and any other instances you might know about.
Thanks a million everyone!
