Need advice on extending award tkt.
I have two transatlantic award tkts (VNO - DEN) reserved for my in-laws. They will begin travel in May 05. My mother-in-law wants to stay with us for a year (no, not a joke
), from May 05 - May 06. However, the award ticket is only valid for one year from the **TICKETING DATE**. The reservation I have must be ticketed by the end of this month, which would mean mother-in-law must return to VNO by Jan 06, not May 06.
Does anyone know of any way to get around this rule? The only thing I can think of is to release the reservation and try to book the award in May (with a zero chance of finding available coach seats).
[I posted this yesterday on the Delta forum but it didn't elicit much response (perhaps for a reason?). I'll repost here as it's a more general question.]

In-laws staying for a year? Why do you want to get around the rule?

I suggest you "bump" your thread over there to get some more eyes on it.
