Awards in Bermuda?

Hello All -

Does anyone know of any mileage programs that allow redemption for hotels in Bermuda? I have only started my research, but I can't see to find any of the major (or minor) loyalty programs that have properties in Bermuda. Anyone have any suggestions? My wife has suggested it as our next destination, but for the life of me I'm not seeing any way to get a free room...and with Hyatt, SPG, Hilton, and Marriott points to burn, I would just despise paying...

Perhaps there is an airline program or something that redeems into a special hotel listing?

Anyways - thanks!

(Moderator - Not sure this really belongs here; if there is a good way to post this other than into every Points forum feel free to move me!)

Thanks,
Zack

If you have AMEX Membership Rewards points, you can book either of the Fairmonts in Bermuda with those.

There is a Wyndham there, so I would think you could use Wyndham points. Also, there used to be a Marriott, now closed, I'm not sure if it is reopening.

I went to Bermuda a few months ago on an award ticket and spent $270/night for an "Expedia Special Deal" hotel. And that was a mid-range hotel!

No, they don't offer points, instead they have very good service.

As your research may have found out, there are no major hotel chains here. The biggest hotels here are the Fairmonts (the Southampton and the Hamilton), but I'm not familiar with their rewards program. I believe that the Wyndham is still closed (due to damage from Hurricane Fabian).

I'm not sure of your travel budget, but one possible strategy may be to wait for a special vacation package. The goverment did a promotion a while back ago to increase turism where they subsidized some airfare and hotel costs for selected vacation packages. This may lower your costs to a more acceptable level. From what I understand, it was a fairly successful promotion. So, chances are that it will be repeated. (However, no guarantees either express or implied are given that the promotion will be repeated... <G>).

For what is worth, when my sister came to visit, she and her husband loved the island.
