Gee, I wonder what FlyerTalker got mentioned in the article. It must have been that notorious NoCal'r who often hangs out with KGB agents.

Great, now in addition to multiple aliases that some posters have on FT, journalists and others are using aliases (as far as I'm concerned, anyone who doesn't tell you s/he is soliciting responses on FT or any bulletin board for the purposes of writing a story/book/haiku/whatever is illegit) to serve their own purposes. I find this troubling

I truly hope that the USA Today contacted the posters in question before printing their comments. If they had contacted them, they probably would have used their real names, so therefore I doubt that they contacted them. It is possible that they contacted them and chose to use the handles instead of real names to make it fit into the whole BB image.

If they weren't contacted, shame on USA Today!

I was emailed by Chris, and I gave my permission to use my posts, so I would assume he made an attempt to contact everyone else as well.

I was so excited when I read that article.

Adam looked good. But where can I get Starwood Lurker's hat?

I too was contacted. I did ask for Chris to use my real name, becasue I think quoting aliases is kind of silly, and mine is a bit less than serious.

Way back when, I was contacted for one of these articles. I said in no uncertain terms to use my real name and not my alias. After all, I have to protect the image of my alias.

As I posted on the original thread over in the Starwood area, I was contacted and asked for my permission to quote. I also gave the reporter my real name.

So I guess the people were contacted.

I do think it would have been better to use real names and not handles, but I do suppose that the use of handles fits into the bulletin board theme they were trying to show.

Hyatt certainly does have a lurker. I have personally communicated with GoldPassport who was very helpful. Why would Hyatt deny it??? All the lurkers got positive feedback. I know we all love Hilton's Adam Burke - he surely went to bat for me.

Yes, Karen! FWIW, I'd actually noted via email to "scibe" (before the article came out) that Hyatt did in fact, at least previously, "lurk" and respond in a very helpful fashion!
