It could have been a much tenser situation - imagine if the flight had been heading to TLV .

I bet El Al would have never allowed THIS to happen .

Y.

Maybe it was one of those unusual animals. A kosher pig.

I'll say it again, as I did in the other related thread.

What part of SAFETY does US Airways not understand?

Shame on US Airways!!!

They could have at least dressed it in a BA sleeper suit and popped on some Bose oink-cancelling headphones - then no-one would have batted an eyelid.

This is absurd. If I were the pilot I would not have let this happen. A 200lb(or whatever) pig flying around the cabin in turbulance could kill someone. It sounds like some wealthy ... that just wanted to get his or her way. A pig as a service animal? Please! I would've added more but my llama and I are leaving on a cruise tomorrow and I have to pack.

Bill - see your point, but would YOU argue with a 300 lb pig?

And another question occurs to me: how many passengers were told by the gate agents to check their oversized carry-ons and then saw Porky trotting town the jetway?

Well that scenario obviously wasn't going to happen with United.

No-one seemingly checks on their 5 cubic yard carry ons. The planes would all leave on time if that happaned! I cannot BELIEVE the junk that is allowed to be carted on board US airplanes. I swear some folks looks like they are moving house.

Of course, this was a "companion" pig. I've never seen a companion dog in first class, but I guess it's possible. I assume you buy a seat for the "companion."
I'm reminded, though, of something that happened several years ago. My (now) wife had gone to New York from DC, and she was returning on the day Allegheny (sp?) became US Air. As I met her at DCA, two hours late, her first comment was "well, Agony Air has just become Useless Air." Our opinions haven't changed.

Reading the post and finding out that Pigs get free F/C upgrades makes me wonder what elite US Air flyer failed to get a seat because of the Pig.

The FAA is out of its mind!!!!!!!!!!

"Basically we accept the word of the passenger," said FAA spokesman Jim Peters.

(same link as in SK's post above)

And US Airways isn't far behind!!!
But would US Airways accept a pig in the future? "You'd have to evaluate that based upon its merit," US Airways spokesman David Castelveter said.
What total disregard for Safety! Very Sad, and dangerous, too!
