Essential Advice for Visitors to Sydney

Olympic Advice for Visitors to Sydney
[*] The tolls on the harbour bridge are voluntary. You should only contribute if the toll officer sings for you, or at the very least plays an instrument.
[*] It is traditional to bargain with Sydney taxi drivers over the fare. On no account pay what is on the meter, as this will be sure to cause offense.
[*] The Olympic "Clearway" lanes are kept completely clear of traffic so as to provide cheap parking.
[*] The monorail is no longer in service. The metal track, though, is now available to American visitors for rollerblading, or simple sunbaking.
[*] Sydney has vibrant drinking houses and a lively tradition to match. Join in the fun by following a local custom - after every third drink, catch the eye of as many people as possible and call out loudly, "It's my shout!".
[*] Visitors to Sydney will notice a unique road service provided to assist tourists: special sightseer lanes on the Harbour Bridge and elsewhere, marked B-U-S, which stands for Banned Unless Sightseeing.
[*] Small silver scooters are ubiquitous throughout the city and are provided free by the State Transit Authority .... just approach someone riding one and ask them firmly to give up the scooter...they may protest ... but don't be put off. You may need to physically wrestle the scooter from the other rider.

Ozstamps, you omitted that Harbour Bridge tolltakers are giving out free tickets to Olympic opening and closing ceremonies, gymnastics, swimming, diving and USA Dream Team basketball.

Hi there NZC. Wonderered where you and your similarly faceless and spineless regular here "NotSoNewHere" were hiding lately after the last beating you both took.

Posting in my own name and having the common decency to include an email address does it seems offer you something to do with your life when all the wings off the flies are done with in your trailer. Others enjoyed this post until you arrived.

Even more enjoyed my emails about your real identity.

here we go again

faceless and spineless
We already discussed this, but I'll cut and paste for your benefit again, since you are attacking
once more:
"forgive me but I have NO DESIRE to communicate with you by email. None. I do not know
you, do not WANT to. Communicating with you by email solves nothing. Any communication I have with you has no reason to be private since it relates to your obnoxious behavior on this board, and how this board has changed since you discovered it."
What exactly about this position warrants your insults?

"...after the beating you both took"
I beg your pardon? I'll have the decency not to post some of the comments I have received about your attitude on this board.

something to do when all the wings off the flies are done with in your trailer
I'll refer you to Punki's thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/000559.html
from which I would hope you could learn a few things.

Why can't you just be POLITE ???? As I am weighing the usefulness of my own post, I am left to wonder: was your reply really necessary? Are you even asking yourself the question?

For the record, I do not have any problem with your original post in this thread.

Apologies about these 2 hooded party crashers, for anyone out there actually enjoying a non-controversial and light hearted thread. What a shame they do not edit out and go infest another board.

I will not post anything here on THIS thread for about 24 hours, but when I do, it will be greatly worth visiting IMHO. If you watched the last episode of Survivor, bookmark this thread for tomorrow evening and re-visit then for some very interesting stuff. It was unfair to these persons to post immediately for reasons I'll reveal later.

Hey fellers -- we need humour and overall tolerance to make this board work. The cited "essential advice" came from Richard Glover's ABC Radio program. I was going to add a number of ring-in contributions from listeners, which raise a grin. However, given the now hostile tone of this thread, perhaps it is better to just close it off.
Punki's comments are good, as is OzStamps lightening of our board. 'appy flyertalking all, life is too short and special to spend our time stirring hostilities. Koala

Lighten up, folks. The way I figure it, FlyerTalk is half information, half entertainment. Both are important in today's crazed world. Relax. Enjoy FlyerTalk. If a thread doesn't interest you, move on to the next. Don't let your meanspiritedness ruin FlyerTalk for the rest of us.

I welcome all posts other than those asking for freebies from other Flyertalkers, or those that personally attack other FlyerTalkers.

Me thinks that the cure is worse than the so-called disease. I read, I laughed, I liked. It there any need to make a debate out of simple humor? I agree with 0524, The way I figure it, FlyerTalk is half information, half entertainment. Both are important in today's crazed world. I like FT because it gets me away from my workaday world of criminals and lawyers (in no particular order). Before long, Ill need the criminals and lawyers as a getaway from FT.

Cant at least disagreements and debate be on content and not on personalities

I, for one, wait with bated breath. I just hope that this "revelation" is more specific than the last time you offered to name names but only presented a non-specifc cryptic puzzle instead. One more bait and switch and IMHO, you'll pretty much lose credibility on this topic.

Like my pappy used to say: The quickest way to lose esteem is to promise something you can't deliver.

Folks, this is NOT funny and it's not great and it's not fair to the majority of us who come here trying to get information and try to be civil on this board.

ANd I take exception to the term "two hooded" whatever... All I invision is the Ku Klux Klan.

I frankly don't care what the big revealation is. I don't want to know but I suspect it will come out. and honestly CAN WE PLEASE JUST LET THIS THREAD DIE AS WELL.

I'm getting sick and tired of all of this. I would just say let THIS be the last post on this and move on.

[/b] My only hope is the revealation does not mean my RESIGNATION from this board. [/b]

SO STOP THE PETTY FIGHTING NOW!

Well, 24 hours have come and gone and...nuthin.

As my main man Al Gore said recently, it's time to put up or shut up .
