Mac .. have not signed myself up yet, but several others have, from their postings. Seems the advertised 4000 becomes 4625 for some reason. Hey .. why argue with Mexican Math?!
And the calling card deal may or may not be still current, or readily accessible at least. There are bound to be other point earning areas linked into Frecuenta. For instance MVIC made an excellent post onb that aspect that bears repeating here:
"They are giving 4625 for sign up now. How to get those extra 375 points? A hotel stay with one of their partner hotels
http://www.mexicana.com.mx/mx2/engli...mashoteles.asp
Or send four people flowers at 250 miles a pop ($28 cheapest bunch at www.floramex.com for three roses)

gaucho,
I signed up last year, and got the card i the mail, I believe it says something (somewhere in that confusing site) that you will get the number by mail, I dont think there is any way of speeding that up unless you call mexicana to lookup the number. I dont htink you miss anything by waiting, you can still fly after signup and just post the flights manually later...
the 4625 comes from a 625 mile bonus for online signup.
I think there may be confusion in that Mexicana seems to have both a kilometer and a mile system, perhaps mexico residents use kms and US/EUR/ASIA/AUST use miles??
I checked Hilton site to because usually airlines give 2 hhonorspts/mile, seems odd to me but if correct you can't beat it... I did check the reverse figures in case they were saying how many miles you get to change hhonors to mex freq miles, but those numbers didnt match either. lets hope...

macbravery,
Here's a link outlining the sign-up bonuses:
http://www.mexicana.com.mx/mx2/engli...istro/home.htm
BTW, not to be a buzzkill, but the Hilton benefits page at Mexicana's web site clearly states that 5,000 Frecuenta miles is the minimum transfer to Hilton.
So I guess it's the calling card or bust.
BTW, I'll bet many of us have the same problem of orphan miles on Aeromexico. You get 4,000 for the sign-up bonus, but what to do with them? Another thread, of course.

As a post a few above mentions buying a couple bunch flowers will "top" the 5000.
These guys just joined Star Alliance. It looks like their system is to POST you the member card and pin, which will take weeks from Mexico.
My take is, sign up now on line, get the 4625 in the account, and THEN when they have a new offer to members .. bonus points, do a survey, sign up for xxxxx, book a domestic flight on line (2,500) when in Mexico for you OR anyone else there on vacation, you do that, take the few 1000 from it, and BINGO, there is your FREE 20,000 Hilton points right there.
And some are assuming the 4000 calling card bonus is not possible .. it may just be in genersis or re-badged, who knows, but that is free and painless, and they WILL have some kind of card deal I can imagine.
Happy Hiltons.

Folks I have travelled on vacation to Mexico, Central and South America about 20 times. Lovely people, but there is often an air of "minor confusion" on many dealings with our Latin friends - from my eyes. That often is how things are done, and they have been doing it fine like that for 500 years. I just go with the flow.
Paperwork is KING in my experience. A voucher, a letter or a contract usually settles things beyond any doubt.
Mexicana have just joined Star Alliance. They are a BIG TIME airline in Latin America. IMHO they are NOT going to "dud" anyone acting in good faith off their website. If their website is wrong or out of date - their problem, not ours. For a few 1,000 points I do not believe a new Star * Carrier would argue about this effective Hilton 20,000 point free gift. And if they did - as a Gold * member I have no doubt I could ask Star * to sort it and be successful.
HOWEVER, for the sake of 3 sheets of paper, I am urging all here to consider printing out the following 3 pages and filing them.
That way if Mexicana amend or change the rules, you have a dated version of what we honesty believed was offered. No Star * Airline IMHO is gonna screw you for a few 1,000 points based on their incorrect website info! It is peanuts to them.
This link below in perfect English says 3,125 miles = 10,000 Hilton points, and 6,250 Frecuenta = 20,000 Hilton points FREE. Many on these boards are getting confused about posting what HILTON transfers points at. That here is irrelevant. Frecueta is offering this generous rate, not Hilton. Enjoy it!
www.mexicana.com.mx/mx2/english/Frecuenta/beneficios/benehilton.asp
This link below clearly confirms the 4,625 miles for Frecuenta program sign up:
www.mexicana.com.mx/mx2/english/Frecuenta/registro/home.htm
And this below offers the 4,000 whatever (miles/km) for the calling card link - EITHER 4,000 Km or Miles will take you over the 6,250 of course (= 20,000 Hilton) when added to 4,625 program sign up.
www.mexicana.com.mx/mx2/english/Frecuenta/obtener/telefono/mastelefono.asp
For 3 sheets paper IMHO it is cheap "insurance" in case they alter the deal somehow in the future. My personal take however is that there will be a lot MORE point earning windows via Frecueta, not less, now they are in Star *. Hit that printer folks!

ozstamps your post from earlier in this thread states:

thank you. now what routes exactly does ua fly from australia to asia? they may all be grouped together, but it looks as if the asia flights are in one category and the australia flights should be under a separate category.

lonman, I think you're on to something.
From the bottom of the United benefits page ...
NOTES: Stop Overs: Not permitted
Connections: Two permitted each way
Journeys: Round-trip, one Open-Jaw is permitted. Only applies in flights serial number 0001 to 2999. All awards must be round-trip on United routes exclusively.
All benefits that the point of origin is in Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Europe or Latin America require two benefits, the first benefit is From/To United States and the second benefit is to the point of destination.

Aah, always the fine print ... well spotted folks. Yes UA do not fly direct from Australia to Asia.
The excellent table of links on page 1 of this thread posted by MrLimo has plenty of other superb options with NO fine print though!
It is well worth perusing. For the same points as I mentioned above - 20K coach, 30K Business, there is an even BETTER one I just noticed. Air New Zealand offer a New Zealand - South Pacific award for those points.
The fly to some AMAZING places like Tonga, Cook Islands, Tahiti, Samoa etc last time I checked. Try costing a Business class ticket to any of THOSE puppies! Also Coach is never cheap, as Air NZ basically have that market to themselves. And best of all a stopover is permitted. Air NZ for instance can fly you to Tahiti via Rarotonga (Cook Is) and a stopover would be permitted. Cook Islands AND Tahiti for 25K is MY kind of deal!
The other great deal I saw looking at MrLimos tables was the VARIG deal. A round trip ANYWHERE in South America these guys fly for 25K. Varig are a very major player, and intra South America flights can be incredibly expensive to purchase with cash. Varig have very extensive routes.
And Frequenta do of course offer the USA reward to HAWAII from anywhere in the 48 states. United themselves charge 10,000 miles extras for that reward, and you can bet the carrier Frecuenta puts you on would be United anyway.

Great Stuff! I just signed up and printed all the documents I could find in case I need to go back and fight for my points.
However, has anyone figured out this double miles thing? From what I gathered, I can CHOOSE to have any Star Alliance flight doubled (up to Nov 15). I am flying from LAX to Toronto. That is about 5k in miles. I need the miles for status. So would I get 5K toward UA and then 10k toward Frequenta points? Or is it only 10K toward frequenta?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Richard

Welcome to FlyerTalk, Richard4009. You would receive a total of about 10,000 miles. For accurate and complete information, call the Frecuenta Service Center at (800) 531-7901 between the hours of 8 a.m and 8 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday. I wouldn't want you to base your travel plans on my interpretation.

This looks like a great deal. Thank you to those above who have worked on it so far. If I fly SAS which I am doing soon, for about 2000 miles return trip does this mean I get 4000 miles on MEX scheme as they are a Star carrier? AND I get a 4625 bonus just by joining, tehri scheme so that makes 8625 in total unless I read it wrong? And that gives 20,000 Hilton points FREE?
I might be wrong. Hope not. Seems too good to be true.
