Is it possible to split FF miles on a flight?

OK, this may sound like a dumb question, especially as I've been flying and earning miles for many years now, but is it possible to fly RT on one carrier and split the FF miles earned (miles going and miles coming back) between that airline and another airline in the same alliance? Thanks.

Yes... but for some airlines the best way to do this is to leave out your FF number until after the flights and then mail/fax/internet a request for credit with the boarding passes. The downside is that your status is not noted and you lose out on operational upgrades and that you must show your card to get certain perks.
With British Airways, the original frequent flier number entered often sticks regardless of what the boarding pass says. Also, if you use your status to access the lounges, sometimes that number sticks. Getting airlines to remove and credit your flights properly after the fact is a bit of a headache.

I have found sending the boarding passes in after flying to the respective frequent flyer programs is the easiest way to correctly credit the miles to the desired programs.
Also, I have had ticket counter agents and lounge agents enter my frequent flyer number without telling me when noticing my number is not in the record. For example, going to the Lufthansa lounge using my United card, when I wanted the miles credited to Air Canada. Fortunately I have always been able to get this corrected afterwards (when large mileage bonuses were at stake).

One World was having some anniversary celebration, and several carriers were offering 100,000 mile bonuses if you flew on at least one paid flight with 5 or more partners.
I flew:
SFO - LHR on AA
LHR - MAD on BA
MAD - CPH on IB
CPH - ARN on AY
all credited to my Aadvantage
then
ARN - CPH on AY
CPH - MAD on IB
MAD - LHR on BA
LHR - LAX on AA
LAX - SFO on AA
on the return, all credited to BA except for the LHR - LAX (Aadvantage) since you don't get BA credit for Trans - Atlantic flights on AA
It worked out fine, although as GUWonder noted, BA tried to give the whole credit for the flight on their metal to AA... 200,000 bonus miles and a week in Sweden!
