Guys, I wasn't bashing. Simply trying to sacrasticly make two points. One simple, one more profound.
1) shouldn't the original post be in the UA forum? As I pointed out the best answers might come from there. I realize the poster is new...thats why I wrote that I was trying to be sarcastic in a funny way. OR typing isn't talking...no suttle infections.
2) My profound, serious point. UA flyers tend to always use UA JARGON. AND they never seem to even begin to think others don't comprehend. It's just not in the borg consciousness... Live chat, the buzz, etc. No other airline flyers do it to the same degree. I'm only trying to say, In this big old flyertalk community there are a couple of non UA flyers. How about translating for us heathens. It took me a good three months of study to understand them. Unless of course you have a systemwide, as a 2p you will need to buy a hk-49 ticket, and check in at the RCC... It's like greek or something!

I see Cigarman's point but can't we all just get along? I look at it as various dialects in flyerspeak. I will have to learn the UA lingo also, since I was comped to PE, but not 1K, based on my CP with US and PM with DL. If fellow fters know what I'm talking about, case closed.

cigarman, excellent point: the world certainly does not revolve around UA.

But the original poster's query contained the terms IAD, 1K and DEN; thusly, pretty fair evidence of his context. Dollars to Krispy Kremes he is talking about UA.

Back to topic:

UA international e-fares today has IAD-MUC for under $300. Not as cheap as a quickie to TPA but a much better $/miles ratio...

And in honor of Cigarman and the spirit of diplomacy and the lovefest that IS flyertalk I raised a glass of cheap port and a Garcia y Vega to Continental Airlines and Gordon Whatshisname last night.

THANKS, KOKONUTZ, hope you smoked a few.
Essexjay, I caught that it was a UA thread right off the bat. BUT, a non UA flyer who has not spent time with other UA flyertalkers, wouldn't get it. I know when I flew Delta, and US in the past, it would have been completely unclear. Imagine a new TWA flyertalker, they are not as informed/jaded/whatever as we are. Always teach as if someone was new.
MOTNOT, duke it out with sweet little old me? I would NEVER even think of such a thing... (trying to keep a straight face!)
