Bizjet or First Suite?

I was noodling around the Boeing site and came across the web page(s) for the BBJ, the
Boeing Business Jet, essentially a 737 airframe available in an 8 or 25-seat configuration with an interior that can be
built to suit.

Which inspired the following question:
Since most of us seem to value status over just about anything else for the resultant comfort it provides, which would you rather have?

A guaranteed First Suite(or equivalent sleeper) on your favorite airline with equally good meal service,
OR
Access to a bizjet with enough space to put either a suite or full bed/workcenter in, but you have to deal with provisioning it yourself. This could mean
anything from bringing along an extra-large bag of jerky to bringing a chef if you can afford it.

It should be assumed here that for the sake of argument that price and trip length are equal and that it is being paid for through your normal means(either yourself or through work. Points, alas, are not allowed.)

Suppose this became your default mode of travel. Is there anything you'd miss about being elite and up front or is that just a means to an end?

Have you or anyone in your company ever talked about going with a company bizjet over
the major carriers?

I myself would have to think about it, but I think I'd take the BBJ in the end. Miles and
all that are great, but for me, just a way
to get there in one piece in peace.

Curiously yours,

JD

Miles and status take the sting out of commercial travel. But there is no need for either when you have your own machine. Of course I would opt for the BBJ.

Where this breaks down is the fact that you can never operate even a small jet (let alone a BBJ) for the cost of even a few people's travel. You need to spread the cost base over a large usage group for the dollar costs to start evening out.

No brainer: The Gulfstream G-V works for me.

Lets see. If I start saving now, I could have one by...

(ok, that was depressing...)
