The Summer of Our Discontent
This, to paraphrase that Shakespeare guy, is the summer of our discontent. Just when you thought it couldn’t get worse, it has. Planes are later and more crowded then ever. Hotel and car-rental prices are skyrocketing. Etc. Etc. Etc.
You obviously know all these dogs of war because you’ve been peppering me with a record number of complaints this summer.

Business travelers are feeling the heat of another summer of discontent, as load factors and flight delays continue to rise.

It has been a season of delay and dismay for the nation's air travelers. Federal Aviation Administration figures showed delays up to July ran 10 percent above the record level set the previous year. Some relief was seen in July, with delays declining 11 percent from June and 1.7 percent from July 1999, but the month was still the third-worst on record.
