Cat as FF
Are there any programmes where the FF doesn't need to be human? My fiance and I are returning to NZ in Oct with our one-eared cat, and the cat's fare (ex food, alcohol, movies or toothbrush) is as much as ours.

However, things are looking up for pets in hotels at least!

But if you trade the one eared cat for a dog, preferably a poodle, and fly Air France, they will give him/her a seat, special menu, and an amenity kit. And FF points.

If pet discount programs exist, I haven't heard of them and I'd like to.(two trips a year for our fuzzball. eventually it would add up) Just curious what pet fares are for international stuff. US domestic runs $120-$150 round trip for small pets in cabin. (If the airline allows pets in cabin)

Don't know for sure that it's true, but I have heard that Yo Yo Ma buys a seat for his cello and that it collects FF miles. So may not be true that only humans can collect miles.

An open hypothetical question.
I own a pet discount-related business (on the side).
If I could negotiate a discount for your preferred airline, would this be an incentive for you to use my service, and if so, how much?
Say the discount was 20% off of pet travel when travelling with a person, how much would that discount be worth annually?

We're already getting a discount as One-Ear is travelling on the same flight. The price is 458 LHR-CHC one way. This would increase to around 520 if we were not on the same flight.
Not worried about the price, just the miles - she'd earn 13455 ANZ Air Points (nearly enough for a return upgrade CHC-MEL for a "close family member").

Silver TP, I want to apologize for some silly people who are NOT ANSWERING YOUR QUESTION.
Thank you Mr. Limo and BostonRedSox and others who did andswer.
For the recordL animals cannot be members of frequent flyer programs.
If you wanted a discount, what I would do is contact the carrier and see if yoru can either:
*Be transported as cargo. (be aware of restictive rules on transport of pets.)
*be brought on as a carry on. (which is what I would recommend.) You would put the cat in the bag under the seat in front of you.
I don't know why the fare is the same as yours. IN the U-S, pets can fly in the plane for 35-75 dollars.
If you need more information please e-mail me.
But folks please lets try to answer the question, even something as light as this. Thank you.

One-Ear is going cargo. I've got no choice - NZ animal regulations are really tough (island nation, no rabies, etc). Cage has to be sealed by Vet in UK (these fees are included in cost, along with cage). Also have a few trips to the vets for samples & pest destruction treatment (not included in airfare). Fortunately quarantine is just 30 days - in your own home.
I guess I'm really asking if membership regulations actually say "human". Air NZ does, but Air Canada doesn't. Worth a try via Star Alliance?
