Are award tickets transferrable?
I have a relative that has enough miles for a continental U.S. award ticket on AA.
Is there anyway that I can be given/transferred that award ticket?
Hope everyone is having nice travels!

I suspect poster is talking continental meaning intra USA and not Continental from Houston?
Certainly with CO (from Houston!) I often had awards issued in names I nominated - relatives etc, using my points.
I imagine most airlines will do that as long as member with points supplies ID, such as PIN that CO always needed.
If not same surname, they often want member with points to be presentt at ticket office when award tix issued.

Can't the relative that has the award just call in and make your reservations for you and give your name at to who gets the ticket. This is what I have done with other airlines..... I hope someone will correct me if wrong

My personal experience says no problem. Usually anybody (account holder or flying passenger) calls AA, makes the specific reservation complete with flight numbers and flight days and passenger name, indicates at the time that the reservation will be paid for by frequent flyer miles, then the agent will hold the reservation for a certain period of time. There will be a record locator (typically six digits) for that reservation. The account holder then calls up AA and indicates that the record locator will be paid for out of his account, and most everything is processed right there on the phone. Expedite fees may be involved of which the particulars can be discussed with AA. Good luck.
