New Sun Country Award Program

Sun Country Airlines launched "phase one" of its "Smile Awards" loyalty program, a co-branded Smile Awards MasterCard, marketed through MBNA, with no annual fee.

This new program is limited to points-for-charges using the card. Members charge a Sun Country Airlines ticket and earn 10 points for each $ spent. For Vacations by Sun Country purchases, members earn 3 points/dollar. For other purchases, members earn 1 point/dollar charged.

Awards include domestic flights on Sun Country & international tickets on Icelandair, as follows:

Points Awards

25,000 Sun Country Airlines Dom Ticket
30,000 Sun Country Airlines Int'l Ticket (Mexico & Caribbean)
32,500 Europe Ticket via Icelandair
45,000 Business Class Europe Ticket via Icelandair

Everyone who applies for the card will receive a $50 coupon for their next Sun Country purchase, and 2,500 Bonus Points with their first purchase, balance transfer, or any other cash advance transaction. Maximum points per year: 125,000.

Other benefits include a 10% discount on car rentals from Alamo and National Car Rental when charged to a Smile Awards card.

Not to me-
I'm tired fo getiing credit cards. It seems I get an 3 offers a day. I will not get another.
I think if I fly SC, I should be rewarded.

A 10:1 redemption ration on SC purchases is terrific (if one flies SC). That means that a domestic RT can be obtained for as little as $2500 in SC charges, and a Biz class to Europe for $4500 on SC! Add in some regular purchases, and if one lives in a market SC serves (MSP?) this could add up quickly.

Yes, but actually its technically only $4,250. in spending/charges for 42,500pts and you'll get one FREE BC ticket to Europe! Remember, the 2,500 free Bonus Points with your first purchase, balance transfer or any other cash advance transaction too!

So, for anyone who easily charges $4,250./yr just charge you annual (or for some monthly)charges with NO annual fee and you'll get a free BC trip in a year (or just one month) to Europe!

Astounding in my view!

That's on Sun Country purchases only, if I understand correctly....
I think one would be hard-pressed to charge $4000 in air travel in one month on Sun Country, given their lack of schedule and low fares....
