LEB = LEBanon, NH
MYR = MYRtle Beach, SC
ITH = ITHaca, NY
Some are made up of letters from the city name...
AVL = AsheViLle, NC
BGM = BinGhaMton, NY
GSP = Greenvile/SPartanburg, SC
GSO = GreenSborO, NC
(and don't confuse either of those with Greenville, NC which is PGV - stands for Pitt/GreenVille airport as it is in Pitt County).
MDT is like CVG - the airport is located in MiDdleTown, PA (but we all think of it as Harrisburg)
SWF stands for SteWart Field. Not sure how you remember that it's in Newburgh, NY - unless maybe you knew a Single White Female who lived there

A couple mnemonics I just came up with:
IPT - It's Pretty Tiny (Williamsport, PA)
ART - A Remote Terminal (Watertown, NY)
Based on the list of cities you posted I am guessing you work for US Airways??

O Canada
What about the Canadian cities that all (I think) start with Y? Toronto is YYZ, do not ask me where that comes from. I think the band (from Toronto) Rush named a song after it.

I just learned a few months ago that no US airport code is allowed to start with K, N, or W because those first initials are reserved for radio stations in the USA!
So now these make some sense halfway:
nEWaRk NJ
nEW berN NC
wILMington NC
wILminGton DE
MCI for Kansas City instead of KCI: Must be embarrassing for all the Sprint Telephone employees with their competitor's name on their bag tags
!

Actually there are airports that start with N - just not commercial airports. N codes are all US Navy airports.
That's my little contribution to the random knowledge of the day....
