Greenpoints is backpedalling fast on this one. I had this response in my e-mail this afternoon
Dear S&H greenpoints.com member,
We are hoping you will accept our sincere apologies for the recent change we
made to our points value system. Your feedback is very important to us, and
to that end, effective immediately - we are reversing our points back to
their original redemption levels.
Please again accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused
you, and know that your points will be assigned accordingly. If you have
redeemed points for a higher valued certificate in the last few days, we
will be happy to credit you for the difference.
If you have any immediate needs, please email our Customer Care Center at
[email protected] or call our toll free number 1-800-435-5674
for assistance.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation in advance.
Janice, Customer Care

Who says grass-roots activism can't work???
Congrats to everyone who kicked ... and forced GP to back off. I have recently signed on with ClickRewards and it was worrying me that if GP pulled this off, then maybe CR will try the same.
Color me relieved....

Dear Valued greenpoints Members:
Please accept our apologies, a system error caused incorrect point value postings to the travel section of our website earlier today. Rest assured, the reward levels have not changed, and have been restored to their original values.
Your feedback is important to us, and we are sorry for any inconvenience or problem the redemption changes may have presented to you. For any immediate needs, please email: [email protected]. Thank you. S&H greenpoints.com.

Their answer seems a little fishy to me. Seems very suspicious that these rewards, which everyone complained about to greenpoints before (myself included), increased again (to coincidentally the same amount).
I'm sensing that like airlines, greenpoints wants to increase the reward level, but is rolling it back when too many people complain. Eventually, when the complaints are to a minimum (after the 3rd or 4th try perhaps), they will probably get them to stick.
