Figuring out fare class when booking online
Hi all,
is there a way to figure out which fare class a ticket belongs to when booking online? I tried both the UA and LH websites and did not find any information during the reservation process (maybe I've been looking in the wrong places..) - my last online booking got me a non-upgradeable Q class ticket
- a mistake I'd like not to make again (and, yes, I mostly use my travel agent in person, but there are exceptions...)
Thanks for your help
Mizu

Travelocity shows the fare classes (and the most complete set of rules of any online booking engine if you want to read them) you are booking in when you go into "Hold" or "Buy". Gives you a chance to see how the fare is constructed. If you don't like the fare at this point, you don't have to proceed to an actual purchase.
On Travelocity, for simple flights you can also book the fare class by going through the menus a certain way (ie finding fares available and then booking that fare)--doesn't work for multi-segment itineraries where you want specific flights though.

I would really like it if a travel site would allow the same access to fare basis that T/A's get. Put in a city pair and the fare basis are displayed, along with the airline code.
Have I missed something? Is there one out there that does this?
