ATI,
Distancia the FF program of Groupo Taca is curently running another promotion for Latin America members only, and they have been much more specific on which fares qualify for mileage, and which ones do not. I have copied what they say about fare codes for that promotion from the web site: "Award bonus is valid on applicable fares (D, B, L, W, Z, T, E booking codes are not valid)". This information is listed for a 50,000 mile bonus promotion at the Groupo Taca web site, Since D class is excluded from one promotion I would assume it is excluded from all. I bought a W class ticket from ITN for a TACA flight and found later that it was indeed excluded from acquiring mileage, and effectively unusable for the million mile run. I myself would be very leary of the D class ticket. One more important slice of information I learned from the TACA Distancia site is that only fares booked in C and Y class are valid for acquiring mileage on TACA Peru. If you are going to Cuzco of Iquitos make certain the ticket is booked in C or Y only!

Not to scare people, but thought I'd pass this on from my weekly Travel Advisories...

[COLOMBIA]

- ELP Conducts Highway Kidnappings -

Members of the People's Liberation Army (EPL) rebel group kidnapped 12
people from their vehicles on an undisclosed highway this past weekend. The
ELP is a small organization, regarded as Colombia's third-largest rebel
group. The circumstances and location of the kidnapping vary by report.
According to one report, the kidnapping took place approximately 130 mi/210
km northeast of Bogota, where a landslide supposedly blocked the road.
Another report claimed that the rebels used a tractor to block the highway
approximately 125 mi/ 200 km south of Bogota.

qColombia (HIGH RISK). There are significant dangers associated with
travel here. US citizens are advised that, due to a recent increase in
random terrorist activity, US travelers who might consider a visit present
additional opportunities for criminal and terrorist elements. The risk of
being kidnapped here is greater than in any other country in the world.

Hetamiles: Try pricing out your itin into various segments. I found if I ticketed the first two segments on one ticket and the last 11 on another ticket, it priced out $200 cheaper than when I priced out the entire itin. Play around with it and you will be amazed at how many different prices you can come up with.

Have your hotel stays posted yet??

No my hotel stays and car rentals have not yet posted. I finished my 500K run on 3/22 and Copa, TWA and Aeropostal haven't posted yet either.

On another note--regarding cy-gone's post on the fare codes that are eligible for mileage accrual--Thank you for the heads up cy-gone! I booked our LIM-CUZ run on a V fare ticket directly with Taca (which was the only coach fare they said was available when I booked it). Prior to booking I spoke with their Mileage Supervisor, Juan, who assured me that this fare was eligible for mileage accrual and participation in the Latin Pass program. I called them back on three separate occaisions just to double check and they gave me the same response each time. We leave on 5/8/00 to finish our million mile run and I definately want to make sure that this flight will count--has anybody flown this leg on a V fare and had it credited? I called them again and they said that a V fare will count. I have an email in to Distancia so that hopefully I can get it in writing.

Thanks cy-gone. I guess I'll stick to the full Y fare. As soon as I have my itinerary I will post it.
