Like to be in control? You fly the plane!
Northwest Airlines in cooporation with NATCO is now offering the Joy Ride Program. If you happen to be in Minneapolis, Los Angeles or Vancouver and have a burning desire to fly a 747-400 flight simulator, give NATCO a call. You get to pick out any airport in the world for your simulation (Kai Tak in Hong Kong would be my choice!) and you get to be in control for a take-off and landing while being accompanied by a licensed instructor. It's on a space-available basis since these are the same simulators used by NW pilots and the facility is open 24 hours a day so you're probably looking at a 3am appointment. What's the cost? Pocket change! A mere $425 for an hour. Call (612) 726-6912. This iffer is good for Suisse residents as well as anyone else.

At 425 dollars an hour, Northwest should allow its ff program members to cash in points and "fly the plane" for half price.
It's a nice deal, and would make a nice surprise Holiday/Birthday gift for that special someone! CATMAN

if the actual exchange-rate-trend "$ to SFr" goes on - I might consider it in year 2000 (and check-out if the millenium bug will produce a crash landing).

Naw, naw, guys. What you need to do is get Platinum Medallion status on Delta. If you are PM on a flight, they let you fly the plane.
Now understand, you can't take off or land; you have to be a Million Miler for that. But once the plane is at cruising speed and altitude, you can take the controls.

I got an interesting shock on the EWR-DEN
flight.
Near the end of the flight, one of the flight
attendants hands me a captains jacket. I
look at it and said mine is a light blue
Eddie Bauer bomber jacket.
The flight attendant laughted and said I looked like the captain (yeah, in a black
shirt and jeans?)
The guy next to me said "You didn't know that
they can't wake up captain from his nap and you have to land the plane?" All of
Conisseur class and the staff laughed.
Now if I had some training and guidance, I
wouldn't have minded landing the plane.
ANd if I could get automatic lifetime 1k
membership... it's a deal! CATMAN
