ClickRewards- Miles for the Wild Promo!

Thru April 22 you can get 5 miles per dollar for contributions to the World Wildlife Fund upto $200; 10 miles/$ for $200-$500; and 20 miles/$ for over $500. ClickRewards will DOUBLE all miles so a $200 contribution nets you 4000 miles.

They say miles will post in 3 days, so you take advantage of the current Starwood redemption promo to double your miles again! 8000 miles for a $200 tax deductible contribution!

So, if I dontated $500 using my AAdvantage ClickCiti MasterCard, I would get 1,000 miles from AAdvantage, and I would get 20,000 clickpoints.

Then, I can convert 20,000 ClickPoints to 30,000 Starwood points with the promotion (remember, only the first 10,000 can be doubled).

30,000 Starwood points can be redeemed for:

1) 20,000 Starwood points for 25,000 Frequent Flyer Points on many airlines, with another 10,000 Starwood points left over
2) 30,000 Starwood points can be redeemed for $450 in gaming chips at Desert Inn Resort & Casino
3) 30,000 Starwood Point can also get you $450 in Gap Gift Certs or $600 in Land's End, Sak's Fifth Ave, or Sharper Image gift cert's.

And, a tax-deductable contribution of $500! Not a bad deal, and the Wildlife fund makes out as well (all donations over $200 to them are being doubled by an anonymous person)

The fine print seems to indicate that Clickrewards values the miles rewarded at 3 cents per mile and Clickrewards offers the opinion that an income tax deduction is only allowed to the extent the contribution exceeds the value of miles rewarded.

When the charity mails the acknowledgement statement to the donor, it is anyone's guess as to whether their system will recognize that the donor received a benefit in return for the contribution.

Since it is an organization we already support, what's a little more money, especially since a free ticket comes with it. I just hope that the clickrewards comes as quickly as you say in time to transfew to starpoints. I plan to transfer only 10,000 and keep 10,000 in the Clickrewards account just in case there is some other two for 1 opportunity down the line. Since I'm leaving the country on 3/24/00 it has to be done before then. Thanks for the tip.

I think the Starwood rules state that the "25,000 for 20,000" mile exchange option can only be used with points earned within the Starwood program. Is this correct?

I donated on Friday and followed up with an e-mail to ClickRewards today to ask where they were (they did say 3 days). Late today they posted and I have already moved them to Starwood taking advantage of the current promo (good thru 3/31). 8000+ miles!

I'm a new member of flytalk and also new to frequent flyer miles altogether. Members keep mentioning starpoints and starwoodpoints. Could someone tell me what this is all about, particularly in conjunction with the wwf offer. Thanks.

Starwood Hotels are primarily Sheraton and Westin hotels. Their hotel program is the best out there because you can use points to book hotels online and if rooms are available you can book them. Currently Clickrewards is offering 2 Starwood points for every mile redeemed until March 31. Many posts have talked about transferring Starwood points to airline miles which is one option, but I value them for getting hotels in cities with expensive rates. Examples of redemptions I've used, Miami $150 room, 3000 points, Amsterdam $350 room for 7000 points. There is a 10,000 clickreward miles limit allowed for the double Starwood point transfer. For a $500 donation to the WWF you will get 20,000 clickmiles and you can redeem them for 20,000 Starwood points (about a $1000 value) and 10,000 miles in an airline program. Great deal!

I donated on 3/18 and am still waiting for my points to show up. I am leaving the country on Friday evening and I don't think I will have access to the internet and won't return until 4/1 - so I have my fingers crossed that they will appear tomorrow so I can transfer 10,000 to starpoints. Mileking - since your Friday donation appeared today, I hope my Sat donation appears tomorrow. It is a great deal I wish a few more charities I support would do this. I would make a lot more donations if this were the case.
