Don't count on moving miles from LatinPass into the Continental One Pass program--I talked to several people in Continental (who did not have a clue) and after 30 minutes was put in contact with a Copa supervisor. He said they will honor latinpass miles for award travel but only on aircraft marketed and operated by copa.

Congratulations Pudding Guy! I see your mileage run made Thursday's Wall Street Journal. I clipped the article to show my friends who think I am crazy to attempt this.

Anything new on Saeta? I want to make my final reservations today, and there was a post a day or so ago (may have been in "Who's going") saying that Saeta is flying again. It looks like it will probably take an international call to find out, so if someone has already made it, please share with us. If I find out - I'll pass it along.

BJJ Mar 17, 2000 11:25 am

Well - Here it is, dependent on clearing up the issue of Saeta flying/not:

Wish I didn't have that long day in BOG on the 28th, and am worried about the connection time on ACES, even though we will be continuing on the same flight number with separate flight coupon. Please review - today is the day to book it I think. Hotels??? Cars??? What to do in CUZ???

Ther is plenty to do in Cuzco. There is a large main square with cathedrals, etc. There are Inca ruins in the city. Bargaining with the Incans over jewlry, rugs etc-Never pay more than 50% of their original asking price. There are also plenty of travel agents around this square that will book you to the Incan ruins nearby on bus tours. Most importantly, if you haven't booked yet, spend an extra day in Cuzco and use it to take the train to Machu Pichu. IMO, one of the real wonders of the world, old or new.It would be a shame to be so close and miss it. I'm envious.

SAETA seems to fly again.

Check out the online Lima airport departures list:
http://www.corpac.gob.pe/jchavez/informes/Default.htm

SAETA SET022 QUITO -GUAYAQ 18/03/00 06:00

At least it isn't cancelled by now. That is less than two hours prior to departure.

Keep on changing your itineraries again...

Duplicate post. Sorry. (This thread seems to get slower by the amount of messages in it.)

Hmmm. The only funny thing about that SAETA flight is that there is no arrival recorded in the arrivals list:
http://www.corpac.gob.pe/jchavez/informes/Default.htm

Maybe they came in the day before. Does someone have a SAETA timetable?

miler Mar 18, 2000 3:38 am

Contacted Lima airport authority. They have no info on SAETA flights!!!!!!!!

What is going on.

I look forward to July 1, when this maze will finally be solved.

BJJ and anyone still planning a trip,

You CANNOT go to Cuzco and miss Macchu Pichu. For that matter, Cuzco is an amazing town in itself. These are probably two of the greatest sights in all of Latin America (if not the world - in all seriousness - a rival to the Pyramids at Giza, the temples of Burma, the Great Wall of China, and all those paintings hanging on walls in the great museums across Europe). If you have the time, spend a few more days along the Inca Trail! You will not regret it.

Heads up to those traveling during the week before and after April 23 (Easter Sunday): this is holy week season and much of latin/south america goes on vacation!

Try to double/triple reconfirm flights 72 hours prior.

BJJ Mar 18, 2000 12:01 pm

I'm unclear on the Saeta situation, and wanted to book today. I went to the Lima airport site a few minutes ago, (12:50 CST) and saw no Saeta departures or arrivals. I guess the fight you saw earlier has already flown. I don't see any Saeta flights showing up on Travelocity or Expedia. I've tried to call Saeta directly, and I just get an answering machine that says it is too full to accept a message. LatinPass is also closed until Monday. I thought about calling the airport in Lima, but see that has been done with more confusing results. Maybe I could call the UIO airport.... I fly out Friday morning, so I need to get my ticket orders in if I can get them by FedEX before I leave. Anybody got any other ideas about how I can find out about Saeta? Anybody know what kind of schedule they might be flyig, so I could work my itinerary around it? I have already booked non refundable flights into and out of Central America, so I am really committed. I'm beginning to wish I had never heard of this promotion. HELP!!!!
