The Problem with the solution as I believe was posted earlier is that ACES does not fly between Guayaquil, Ecuador and Lima. If it is any flight I will have to get that and writing and see IF I can make proper arrangments.

Student - Yes, my mistake. I see from my scribbled notes taken this morning on the phone with LP that the allowed substitution for Saeta is UIO - LIM on ACES or vice/versa. She at first told me Guayaquil - Lima, and like you, I questioned the existance of such a flight (This has come up of the board before) She then asked me to hold and came back to say Quito - Lima which agreed with what another LP agent had told me yesterday. I searched back for why I had the idea that Sociedad is really Avianca, and found mention of it under "notes" in the LatinPass rules. They say:
" Sam (Sociedad Aeronautica de Medellin): Due to the fact that Sam is an Avianca's subsidiary airline, any international segment flown on Sam will count as an Avianca's flight for this bonus. " Now the question is if "Saeta-Sociedad" is actually "Sociedad Aeronautica de Medellin = SAM"? The LatinPass agent I spoke to today said it was, and would count as Avianca. She didn't seem terribly confident though. I could only get an answering machine at the Saeta 800 number. I sat on hold for 30 minutes at the Avianca number, and finally was told by their agent that SAM is part of Avianca, but Saeta-Sociadad is not SAM. Avianca doesn't even fly the Guayaquil (GYE) - Lima route. The agent assured me that the flight you have is NOT an Avianca flilght. So, I can only guess that what you have is a Saeta flight reserved. How long have you had it? Did you book it more than a week ago? Like, before Saeta stopped flying? I'd be afraid to count on being able to take that flight. Maybe you could ask Travelocity about it. They will only accept phone calls if you have a Travelocity reservation number. Apparantly you do. Please let us know what you find out. Every detail is crucial if you're going for the Million. Thanks. |
SAETA is NOT the same as Societidad?? which is related to Avianca and is still flying. The Avianca online schedule shows that this airline flies for them from BOG to various places like some Central American destinations.

I made my reservation through Travelocity on March 23. I received my ticket in the mail yesterday. When I called Travelocity they were unsure and have the flight listed as unconfirmed. They have tried to call SAETA as have I and not been able to contact anyone. They said they will cojntinue to check on it. I have emailed LatinPass about what my options are if SAETA is not operating. This why I have a record of what they tell me hopefully SAETA will be operating or else I will have to see what arrangements can be made to get another ACES flight if that is what is required. Thanks again for the info.

Has anybody had their miles credited yet?
I have convinced my wife to take a trip to Latin America before July 1st. We are going to go for a million each. Oh yeah - anyone know if flights(activity) on July 1st count! We will be cutting it close to the bone - June 20th to end of promotion period. 10 days of five star hotels, business class and day trips to the local shopping areas for the Mrs. |
My wife and I will be making our half million mile run June 1, we will be incorporating it into a two week vacation. We were able to book Los Angeles - Belize - Guatemala - Quitio - Lima - Los Angeles using six required airlines, for less than one thousand dollars, and we did not need to use any frequent flyer miles. A good site www.leisuretraveler.net has the information on how to do the same itinerary. A sample itinerary as well as price breakdown is listed there.
This is my first posting but I have been following this thread for the past two weeks. Thanks for a lot of useful information. I too have called Latin Pass on several occasions and received conflicting information. One person told me the hotel portion had to be fullfilled by using three seperate hotel stays and three consecutive nights would not do. I have received an E-Mail from Latin Pass and they have now said that the three successive nights are OK. Anyone attempting the million mile offer should be cautioned that five succesive nights in the same hotel will not satisfy this offer. [This message has been edited by cy-gone (edited 03-03-2000).] |
Request to student
Can you post your schedule for the million mile trip you are undertaking? it would help validate some of the planning that the others are doing. thanks |
Vman my current plan is posted on page ten of this thread. A word of caution I am still waiting to see if SAETA is running. If they are not I am trying to determine if an ACES flight can replace this. As soon as I receive a response to my email to LatinPass on the ACES replacement to SAETA I will post it here. If I can use ACES then you can add a day to my plan and just do a LIM to UIO roundtrip on ACES and make the LIM to GYE trip a round trip on Aeropostal. The actual cost is actually less than the trip I have planned.

Davistev - I had earlier considered a trip for the end of June and asked LatinPass the question about travel on July 1. I was told that July 1 (prior to midnight July 2) travel DOES qualify, and this is consistent with their clear statement in the rules:
" FROM JANUARY 1, TO JULY 1, 2000. " |
cy-gone....
would you post your itinerary here? I'd be very curious to see it! Sounds great! Thanks! |

This is a quite complicated fare look at link 500,000 miles at www.leisuretraveler.net the fare is very difficut to explain, but this site does a good job. A sample itinerary is listed at the site with the fare breakdown. Good luck!
