Miles & Smiles v Miles & More

Hi all

just looking for advice.

I have status match with TK and LH (Elite and Senator).

Which one would be best to collect the miles on and maintain Status?

I would generally fly LH short haul and economy, but TK long-haul and business.

Would it be best throwing everything on Miles and Smiles as you have to do a certain amount of flights on LH to achieve Qualifying Points which I I'm unlikely to achieve.

Thanks,

Steven

If it's unlikely that you can renew the SEN status, I guess you have your answer. Remember that the cheapest booking classes, both econ and biz on LH, don't give any M&S miles.

I'm not intimately familiar with either program, but I definitely wouldn't credit to a program where I couldn't meet the flight requirement to maintain status.

What benefits are you looking to obtain with a program?

I, personally, now credit to Air Canada since they're a good credit card partner and have a lot of good redemption options (both in and out of *A), but they have specific requirements for status that I won't meet.

TK is best for earning and maintaining status. The tradeoff is that they have absolutely terrible customer service and the miles are practically worthless. LH is one of the more difficult programs to earn and maintain, so if you will not be flying enough to meet the threshold, it would not be of much value once the match expires. TK also gives status for two years, which makes it easier to maintain if your travel is not very regular.

You won't earn much as TK M&S flying cheapo Lufthansa in business (P) or eco (L & K):

B ooking classes not eligible for accrual: O, I, R, X, K, L, P
https://www.turkishairlines.com/de-d...nes/lufthansa/

and M&M QP will not come along when flying TK lounghaul.
