Kudos to WebFlyer computer staff
We complain a lot about bad service from airlines, etc... but I want to take a few
moments to give kudos to Scott and Keary at
Inside Flyer.
I could not get on to FlyerTalk, even the
WebFlyer site itself earlier tuesday.
So I called Inside Flyer, the lady phone rep with the nice voice said their systems were
fine, wait a half hour and try again. Also
suggested calling AT&T (My service provider)
I also e-mailed Inside Flyer and they suggested it could be a problem with AT&T.
My e-mail answered in a few minutes. They even took the time to call AT&T. SO did I
and "Ma Bell" said it could have been my
computer.
But it's nice to be back on line... and thanks Scott and Keary and the Inside Flyer
Phone representative for responding so quickly and nicely.
The airlines and hotels could learn from these folks about customer service! Thank you and MEOW!

I agree wholeheartedly. The few times I have corresponded with Randy or another staffmember, I have received prompt and helpful replies.
Too bad their offices are not in Seattle as I would be submitting a resume! Of course, I would need to submit cover letter and mileage statements....

where are there/your offices at/in Colorado Springs?
Would you (one day - may be not so far away) accept a lunch or dinner offer at the Broadmoor Randy? I learned so much here thanks to you - it would be a pleasure for me.

Rudi, by all means count me in for lunch at the Broadmoor although that's pretty fancy for an everyday people person like me. I kind of like the Cheyenne Conferecne Center for lunch as that's where I usually take employees for their annual anniversary lunch. Name the time....and yes, even the place. This is Randy.

Wow, together at one table - combining their forces for the benefit of frequent fliers everywhere - in the left corner Randy the undisputed king of ff programs and in the right Rudi, the undisputed king of FlyerTalk - that will be one hell of a power lunch !!!!! (oops, am I not supposed to say hell around here ?
Regards to both of you.

Randy,
Have you ever thought of having an annual "fly-in"? A day's worth of events: airline reps answering questions, mileage workshops, a small travel-related trade show?

First, let's get back to the topic at hand!
Question: is there generally a high amount
of computer activity between 12p and 2p E.D.T? For second time I had to wait a LONG
TIME to get on Board FlyerTalk. Maybe it's
my computer or my Internet provider. Then I
called and e-mailed Inside Flyer and the problem went away. (It could be the machine
or Yaz is trying to disconnect me!)
Just curious, but your webmaster site works
very very fast.
Now to this meeting of minds between Randy
and Rudi... if Inside Flyer can't send someone to cover, I'll coem to COlorado
and cover. I am a legitimate news-person
(Not a reporter but a t-v producer/writer
in NYC! Really!)
Or: I'll be happy to go just to sit there
and see two great minds just talk!
But Mileage Addict brings up a good point.
Maybe have a get together of the FlyerTalk
members once a year so we can prove we all
exist (Yes, CATMAN exists, unlike emmett_nancy?) Or combine it with the Freddie awards ceremony.
If you have it in NYC, let me know. I'll go.
Just as a guest! THank you. CATMAN

Catman, The same thing happened to me today.
It's obvious the ads at the bottom have priority, since I saw them cycle through about 3 times. Avis, biztravel, lowestfare,
etc. Now, I know this site has to have sponsors to survive, but let's get real. If
it can download ads, then it can download the bulletin boards. If I were you I would cancel the kudos until such time that the downloads are faster.

Everything was slow today, not just Webflyer. I have a T3 connection, which is usually blindingly fast, but I actually had to WAIT for sites today. It could be that everyone was surfing during their lunch break...

A T-3, huh??? How can I dial into the site,
baobab? You are my hero! Anyone with a T-3,
has to be envied and worshipped. If you were slow, then the whole web must entering the St. Ives contest for Switzerland.

I use a T1 line at work and experienced no slowdowns today at all. If it weren't for the fast T1, I wouldn't be able to sneak a peak at the WebFlyer BBS every few hours or so!

It's 4:30p E>D>T (Or New York TIme) and I'm
still finding it slow getting to FlyerTalk
bulletin boards as well as posting on the different boards.
Also found getting onto www.biztraveler.com
was slow too today. The StIves site was quick and I'm entered. DItto all my other
sites.
Maybe it's one ofthe connections (my internet
provider, WebFlyer, the computer network.)
Or the computer is mad it did not win the first EMMETT_Nancy_ROberto award.
Or sisterTodd is back, wanting to know where
the next "Can We Talk" question is.
Or the computer gods are mad at Cat People
today.
WIll try the system early wednesday morning.
I know the WebFLyer WebMaster's looking into the problem.
I'm fried, feel like I do when waiting hours
for a plane to take off. I'm going to earn
Frequent SLeeping points (and double snoring
miles... a good bonus for us frequent traveling folks!) CATMAN

Jaws - you'll have to move east - the whole of Cambridge is wired for T3 access, and at last count approximately 70 MA communities were online. I can sit here in my bathrobe & surf at the speed of light. The only problem is that if I have to wait for 20 seconds or longer I get impatient: there's no going back to dialing in...
