Super SUPER COSMIC Elite Status
Wanna know what real elite status is and how to get it? Read today's Wall Street Journal article entitled "Friendly Skies: Carriers Offer Mega Perks to a Few." And guess what the qualification is: miles? no; segments? no; what then, professor? REVENUE, MONEY!
How gauche, crass, plutocratian, unvarnished elitist. Wish I could try it for a year.

If I may offer a helpful note here, I'm unaware of any WSJ issue for "today" 2/21/00. It was Presidents Day, which is celebrated here (and I guess not in the EF's "upstairs") with a day off to indulge oneself in shopping the massive holiday sales in celebration of Lincoln and Washington!
Having noted it, but not posted it, this article actually appeared in the WSJ paper editions Weekend Jounal pg W4, on Friday, 2/18/00, for those interested.
