1999 Freddie Awards
Well, I was checking press releases and found Northwest patting itself on its back for winning 1999 Best Program (WorldPerks)
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/000126/mn_northwe_1.html
It's interesting that the 'live' site at InsideFlyer still has not been updated but the PRNewswire has been!

I don't think that news release is related to the Freddies, I think that's what NW WorldPerks was rated as in a review in InsideFlyer Magazine.

Northwest's press release is not related to the Freddies. The info came from http://www.webflyer.com/@reviews/frrev.htm where we list the side-by-side comparisons of program reviews. It's kind of an odd press release in my opinion. Incidentally, when we do a program review we do not compare the programs against each other. They are rated independently from the rest of the pack.
To catch the winners check out http://www.freddieawards.com at approximately 1p.m. ET and you'll see it happen live with comments, images and even some small live video and interviews of the winners.

NW has a great Frequent Flyer program, just like OnePass, its the airline that sucks!
Now it's good to see who really made of with the Freddies !

Actually they won one of the Non-voter freddies, also known as the Randys.
Heck even we flyertalkers won a Randy
As for the voted on categories, they finished quite low.
They finished 6th out of 8 in Program of the year.
As the point out in their press release:
Northwest's customers were most active in the voting process with WorldPerks receiving the most votes of any airline's frequent flyer program.
``We are very proud of the enhancements we made to our WorldPerks program in 1999 and of being recognized by our customers for raising the standards of the
entire industry,'' said Susan Edberg, managing director of WorldPerks marketing and international advertising for Northwest Airlines. ``Our goal has always been to
have the best frequent flyer program in the industry. We're committed to delivering to our customers the most comprehensive and generous frequent flyer program
possible. Nothing is better than to have your customers recognize this with their votes.''
The problem is, those that voted for NW, didnt like them very much. They finished near the bottom in just about every category.

True enough they make the White House "Spin Doctors" look like ordinary patients! They surely made the most of what they got.
