Free Debit/Check Card that earns miles

Compubank gives 500 clickmiles for opening an account. The accounts are free and you can even open them using one of your CCs that award miles. Plus, they have a FREE debit/check card that awards 1 miles for every dollar you spend. (I gave up my Chase Debit card which was costing me $30 a year. This sure beats that)Also, if you set up a direct deposit or withdrawal you get another 750 miles.
Happy mile mining

Can you post more detals on the credit card option. I tried to get there by entering fake address info, but it wouldn't let me get as far as that screen. What credit cards will it take? Does it specifically say that it counts as a purchase? How much can you deposit with the credit card? How often?

The miles are obtained when using Cumpubank's Visa Check-card, according to the website. What I'd like to know is: what is a check-card and how does it differ from a credit or debit card?

check card/debit card; deducts funds automatically and quickly, no revolving chares

credit card; just that -credit and a "float" and Fair Trade CC Protection! The better card in general for most folks!

I paid with my Visa card and my initial deposit was $1,000. It posted to my CC as a purchase. When I registered they took Visa MC, Discover and I think AMEX.

The Check card is same as a Debit card but it has the Visa or MC logo so stores that do not accept debit cards will still accept this card.
The funds come out of your account immediately since it is serving basically as a check.

I'm definitely going to sign up for this. Is there any bonus for signing up with ClickRewards? Or does anyone get a bonus for referring me?

Airhead, thanks for the Compubank tip. I was all excited because if I could charge money to a mile earning card then spend it through compubank, that would be double miles. But I just went to Compubanks site and couldn't find anything about making a deposit with a credit card. So I called and spoke to a rep and he said I COULD NOT make deposits with credit cards (except as a cash advance, balance tranfer, etc.) He was very explicit in saying I couldn't do it as a purchase.

I would love to hear I'm wrong! Please post if you know more anybody.

I do not know about ongoing deposits with a credit card but I do know the initial deposit can be with a CC as that was how I did mine.
It came up near the end of the application process asking what method I wanted to use for my initial deposit.

If the account you open is a joint one, both of you get the 500 miles but the regular miles will only post to 1 account.

Thanks Airhead! After I called compubank last night and was told I definitely could NOT make my initial deposit with a card, I wrote them an email asking the same question and they wrote back today and said I could. (If anyone has any trouble with this, I'm happy to send you their email.)

Has anyone figured out a way to get the miles OUT of compubank that earns clickmiles without buying anything? I am happy to be able to get the full limit on one credit card going into compubank, but then what? I might as well just pay the card off and keep charging with my usual cards, rather than spending it through their debit card, right?

Can you use the debit card to put money into Etrade or anything like that (more miles!).

I'd love to hear any ideas anyone has.

Compubank originally told me that I could send them a list of credit cards to open the account with no limit, so I happily prepared all the mileage-earning cards that my family had. Now they're saying that they're not quite so generous. The maximum you can charge is the minimum to open the account, with a $2500 cap. A rep was explaining to me that to get the max, I would have to open a money market ($2000) and an interest checking ($1000) and then enclose a check for the additional $500. I didn't bother and just opened the money market. They only accept MC and VISA.

By the way, Compubank seems like a decent bank with the usual free services of an internet bank, plus free domestic wire transfers, which is hard to find now that Greenwood Trust (Discover Savers) started charging for them this month. They also sent me an email offering 1000 ClickMiles instead of 500 and an extra $50 in my account. This was after I filled out the application on line and hadn't mailed in the paperwork for about a month. Sorry, I can't share that with you all. It was a personalized email to me, and they wanted me to print it and enclose it with my application. But you can try the apply and don't mail in tactic.
