Compubank originally told me that I could send them a list of credit cards to open the account with no limit, so I happily prepared all the mileage-earning cards that my family had. Now they're saying that they're not quite so generous. The maximum you can charge is the minimum to open the account, with a $2500 cap. A rep was explaining to me that to get the max, I would have to open a money market ($2000) and an interest checking ($1000) and then enclose a check for the additional $500. I didn't bother and just opened the money market. They only accept MC and VISA.

By the way, Compubank seems like a decent bank with the usual free services of an internet bank, plus free domestic wire transfers, which is hard to find now that Greenwood Trust (Discover Savers) started charging for them this month. They also sent me an email offering 1000 ClickMiles instead of 500 and an extra $50 in my account. This was after I filled out the application on line and hadn't mailed in the paperwork for about a month. Sorry, I can't share that with you all. It was a personalized email to me, and they wanted me to print it and enclose it with my application. But you can try the apply and don't mail in tactic.
