While I received prompt order confirmations from magazines.com, I did not see any confirmation of orders when I checked the AAdvantage eShopping portal site. So I emailed the portal and received the following reply:

After reviewing your account we were unable to confirm that you accessed the merchant in question through the AAdvantage eShoppingSM web site and therefore will be unable to reward your purchases with miles. It is essential for us to obtain this confirmation in order to deem a transaction valid because it represents when a member has clicked through our shopping site to the merchant's site while logged into their account. When this process is done correctly, we are able to track your transaction in order to reward your account with miles.

Unfortunately, since you do not have any click data for this transaction we will be unable to track your purchase. Please keep this in mind for future purchases through our website. In order to avoid this from happening, please ensure that you are logged in properly to the online mall before clicking on the merchant’s link to make your purchase.

Please also be aware that when multiple users with separate accounts share a computer, such as family members or spouses, it is important to check to be sure the correct account is logged in when making the purchase. If you believe this purchase may have been made with another household member's account, please have that member contact us and we will check for click data on their account.

We apologize for the inconvenience this issue has caused but thank you for participating in the AAdvantage eShoppingSM Program.

Now, I am almost certain I clicked through to the magazines.com deal after logging in at AAdvantage eShopping and am absolutely certain that no one else used my account or computer. But, silly me, I didn't think to document anything but the date and rates for the order at magazine.com.

Anyway, I won't get the miles so have emailed magazines.com to cancel my subscriptions. If I have any problems getting refunds, I'll report back here on that.

I hope no one else has this problem - despite my near certainty, perhaps I goofed up in my order - but if you don't see any confirmations at the eShopping portal you might want to check.

Anyway, happy holidays to all! Enjoy the magazines and the miles!

60 AA miles/$ at Magazine.com

I don't have anything pending in my AA account either and I am certain I clicked through the portal. My last few orders have taken some time to post though so I'll wait it out a bit longer.

Order date was the 26th I think?

CFFrost Dec 2, 2013 5:39 pm

I'm relatively new with the AA portal (I typically use UR and sometimes UA). Isn't it normal for a week or two to pass before the transactions appear?

terridiz Dec 2, 2013 7:20 pm

I ordered on the 24th and again on the 30th. My account showed no recent transactions so I sent a message and got this back.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. However, the merchant has not credited your account with miles because they have deemed this item ineligible per their terms and conditions stated on the AAdvantage eShopping web site see their terms and condition below:

Eligible on Magazine subscriptions only (automatically renewed subscriptions are not eligible).  Not eligible on purchases made with coupon or discount codes that are not found on this site. Journals and International Magazines are not eligible. Orders cancelled within 90 days are not eligible.

If your purchase was made within these Terms and Conditions and you feel the merchant deemed your purchase ineligible in error, please respond to this email with a copy of your e-receipt for the purchases and we would be happy to investigate this further.

I didn't purchase any journals or international magazines. I think all of the magazines are set for auto renewal when you order but I did go into my account and set them all to manual. I e-mailed them my e receipt order confirmations. We'll see what happens.

I haven't had my miles post either...but give it some time folks. You can dispute off your credit card for a couple months and magazines.com says you can cancel up to 90 days. Yeah it will be sad if I don't get the miles I wanted and they agreed to offer---but no reason to flip out now. Even emailing them or calling them once does nothing positive here.

Just give it some time...

The miles for my second order showed up in just a few days on the AA shopping site. I've been waiting patiently for the other orders to similarly post. That is until today when I received emails stating "As you requested, the following has been canceled." Of course I never requested anything of the sort. As a data point, none of these orders were for non-profits or were to be sent to any address other than my own.

Isn't the alarm bell ringing a tad early??

From AA: "Please allow 2-3 weeks for a transaction to be posted in a pending status, with an additional 1-3 weeks to confirm your transaction."

Let's give it a few more weeks, then ring the bells.

I, too, am a tad curious as to what's going on here. I'm just thinking it may be a little early to freak out.

Hmmm I've ordered on the 24th, nothing pending on the portal. Should I be worried?

brettskyg Dec 3, 2013 10:27 am

My order from 11/28 still not posted either.

My experience with Cartera on both AA and UA managed websites is that if a vendor has a rich promotion, such as this 60 mile one, the probability of it being properly rewarded diminishes greatly. It is almost as though the vendor conducts the campaign, underestimates the response and then realizes they have accumulated a huge potential liability and implement measures to reduce the payout. Delayed postings, assertions that the customer "didnt enter through the shopping portal," additional document requirements to receive credit, etc.

They confirmed by email yesterday that Gift Cards were not included, so I am whining back since I have not yet received it, to cancel it and refund to my credit card. Worked in the past for some, but not this time, blew the thought of reselling the gift card.

How quick has it been on the turn around for these inquiries? TIA.

My order from the 25th of November just posted to my eshopping account.

wolfie52 Dec 4, 2013 5:47 am

I put in two separate orders during the bonus offer and both have now posted on my recent transactions page. Both were under $100 so I had no issues, but a nice 10000 miles to add to my account.
