Quick turn reward for upcoming trip

Hi all,

Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section... I'm new and overwhelmed by the giant but awesome forum!

Anyways, my wife and I have our honeymoon in St John, US Virgin Islands from 7/25 to 7/30 and we're trying to book our flight now.

Does anyone know if I can sign up for a credit card with any airline that will quickly award me points so I can book a flight with them right away and redeem the points for my current flight?

Is there any way to work something out so I can use the points for this flight?

Thanks!

Points/miles take time to post and that is after you meet spending requirements.

Add the fact you are roughly three weeks away from departure, the chances of finding award seats available are slim to none.

I don't think you can make it happen.

Good luck.

you can each buy 35k mi for $960ish if the award is available....

you can put the awards on hold & buy the mi....

i would check orbitz or other to see what the cheapest carrier would be for your dates from wherever y'all live....

i think you will fly to stt & take a ferry to st john....

whats your home airport?

edit....info above is aa, posted before the merge of your 2 threads...

Thanks for the replies!

I am flying out of Dallas and we're planning on taking the ferry from STT as mentioned.

The flight is around $700 per person.

Can you please explain a little more how purchasing the miles would work and if it would save me any money?

Thanks again!

if 2 award seats were available, you could get them by buying the mi for $960 each or less if y'all have aa mi now....

there are no awards at the 35k each for your dates, so forget it.....

if they were available, it still would make no sense to buy mi when you can buy the tickets for $700 each...

sorry for any confusion...
