The evolution of MilesBuzz

So, pretty much all the credit card threads got moved to the CC forum in an attempt (as I understand it) to focus MilesBuzz on hot, breaking miles news.

Since then, MilesBuzz has essentially become a Miles Advice forum. How did that happen? Was it intentional, and I missed the news? Or is it the result of everything interesting being moved to CC, creating a void that somehow/randomly ended up being filled by advice threads?

The description still says "Discussion of the latest frequent flyer & hotel program buzz...only". I'd say we're epically failing. :-)

I think this is the latest way MilesBuzz has evolved. Back in the day (ie, more than 10 years ago), when a way to earn miles for a specific airline came up, this type of opportunity was posted in MilesBuzz. But it was also posted in the airline portion of FT, so there'd be competing threads (eg, when you could download a toolbar and get AA miles, it's be in the AA section and MB). At some point, the powers that be decided that they didn't want competing threads, and so those types of things are no longer found in MilesBuzz. There was some marginal protest. Some noted that they didn't check all the airline/hotel sections every day, and so there was value in having these threads in one place where more people would see them. But that line of thinking didn't carry the day.

And at some point I guess the same thinking applied to SPAM opportunities, altho I could be wrong here.

And at that point, MB became primarily a credit card forum, and much less useful (not saying it had no value, just saying it had less). And now the new twist, that OP notes.

As you can probably tell, I was one who preferred having it all in MB, but c'est la vie. FT is still such a great web site, and I have benefitted a great deal from it, so I'm not going to be overly critical. tls

I think the issue was with having the credit card offers here, the new programs to earn miles here, and all that, a lot of people that joined asking to be spoon fed how to sign up for cards to travel for free became and issue and was clogging up this forum.

There was a discussion in the TalkBoard forum, but there wasn't really a consensus as to the best option as to what to do. Having anything miles earning, plus all the people asking for advice on how to travel for free was pushing the actual threads that belonged here several pages deep, and harder to find.
