Amex also transfers 1:1 to BA, so you've got Oneworld covered there.

I cancelled my Chase Marriott card about a year ago. Is there any chance re-applying I can get the 50k bonus again?
|
I reapplied and got accepted for the Chase Marriott card 3 months after I had cancelled it. It received FYF and 50000 points but no free night.

hi
I"m looking at the Amex Gold Business card--could someone explain how to use the 'referral' option to get the extra 10,000 points -- or is that not still available? |
You need to sign up online using an existing cardholder's referral.

Yes self-referring is a one of the greatest tricks when it comes to AMEX in Canada… I can only recommend reading this other thread, if you wish to learn more about Canadian AMEX: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...da-2014-a.html

and nope, $70/10k points (IHG cash + points rate), the 60k points has a maximum value of $420 - $120 annual fee = $300 / 2 (EQ and Transunion hit) = $150 per hit and < $200 per hit requirement :D $484/night * 2 nights =$968 - $280= $688. Please correct me if my math is wrong. |
Patting Myself on the Back...
And there you have it;
http://dcta.ca/2014/10/50-conversion.../#.VFda7dm9LCQ 50% bonus! And you can get extra 15k points with FYF! My little bird definitely came through.... ;) I hope you guys switched or applied for the card when I mentioned this insider tip! Phil

First off, I want to specify that I do not work for RBC or Avios... I'm spending too much time masterminding the biggest mileage heist off all time! ;)
So far no results... So quoting tommy, a lil bird told me (yeah, I got kids) that RBC will have a 50% bonus for BA soon! So not only can you get 1.5x for each Avion, but it's a great time for you disgruntled AP guys to apply the hacking trick and convert AP to BA! (AP 50K = BA 52.5K when the bonus applies) https://www.creditwalk.ca/aeroplan-h...n-cardholders/ FYI, this bonus applies only to infinite Avion cardholders. And correct tommy, there was a 50% bonus back in May 1st. So suit up guys, it's bonus roundup time! You can all thank me later... :-D Phil |

Thanks for your input...
I was looking to trade for another mileage program. Something that gives me good value for my airmiles... On the flight subject, 5500 points for a 900$ flight low season. But I still have to pay the taxes! Which means 5500 points only covers 480$! Now you understand what I mean that it's reeeeeeaaaally not worth it? Phil

I poked around, and they can be redeemed for flights. I saw round trip in "low season" YYZ-LHR for 5500 points. YYZ-EZE for 6000 points. I don't know if that's good or bad relative to other redemption options. But if those are the points you're talking about, play around on the site and see what you can find. Also, to note, redeeming them for flights might get mileage-earning flights. |
Oh wow,
Didn't even see that one when I posted my inside scoop. Oh well, at least now anyone can get 15k bonus and FYF on top of the 50%! Phil |
Where's the link to apply for the FYF RBC Avion?

"MBNA CARD OFFERS WILL BE BACK IN NOVEMBER" so my guess is sometime in November :) |
Interested in the Capital one IHG cc. How long does it take for Platinum status to show up in my IHG account? I have a few IHG stays coming up over the next month or two and wondering if I'd be platinum in time

I know I've read some things about avios redemptions to the U.S. being a great deal but I need to look into that a bit further, I'm not sure if I can use them departing from YOW. If not I guess I'll see what else I can do with 15k avion points - I don't plan on using that card much. As far as long haul J, I think the taxes/YQ are really high. Is that correct or are there YQ free options like there are with aeroplan? If there are I'll consider moving a bunch of points to avios. If there's a thread discussing this can someone let me know? Otherwise I'll figure it out eventually. |

I think the only direct flights to/from Ottawa on One World are to Charlotte and Philadelphia both on US Airways, no? So you could transfer RBC Avion to BA Avios (especially now given that there's the 1.5x promo), and then use your 22,500 points to do 2 round-trip flights (9,000 each round trip) and still have enough for a one-way to either of those places. Montreal has a few more options (Chicago, NYC), in addition to slightly farther places (Dallas, Miami etc).
Just got this email:

Which was surprising to me since I've flown that route quite a bit and was usually full; mind you it was an E145. |

The only consistent benefit I get is a choice of 500 IHG points or a treat bag with a cookie, chips and water. If I ask for a room with a King bed at check-in they sometimes give it to me if there's one available. |
Having used Amex business gold for 2 weeks, I received a call from an Amex business gold agent and inquired how I am performing in my "real estate" business and what the revenue is for last two years.
She was shocked when my business has very little (to none) revenue..anyway, my point is that business gold owner will expect to receive a call from Amex for an introductory call:D |
I have 130000 avios to burn. Besides NYC I am unable to find anything ex-YUL for 9000 avios on OW. MIA is 24000 avios, 48000 in J.
