I'm not thrilled about it but I think I might go with the flow and sign up anyway. |

I gave it a whirl on the gamble that I can get a prorated refund for the second year fees. We'll see what happens...
I only have about two or three cards I'm definitely planning to sign up for in the first half of 2017 (2 Amexes, 1 BMO MC), so I figure I can still accommodate a few churns of marginal cards. I'll probably give the CIBC Aero a go for 15K if I can get a branch to give me the FYF, maybe hit up the MBNA BW/AS again. There's not as much to go for now as compared to 2 years ago, so the hits don't matter to me as much. |

OK, I haven't really been paying attention to the Alaska/Virgin America merger so I'm a little late to the game on this, but I see on OMAAT that Apr 30 is the last day for AS redemptions involving DL. This could affect many Canadians who rely on DL to use their AS points... at this point I'm not sure I'll bother churning the MBNA AS MC anymore since with 2 kids I can't swing the super aspirational AS redemptions and I don't care to pay for positioning flights to access the AS network once DL is no longer useful in that regard.
Oh well, it was good while it lasted. |

Well...you can still book AA flights with AS miles. That makes them useful for Canadians.

The OMAAT post on converting SPG to Virgin to AS shows how you can get 1.625 AS points per SPG points which is quite interesting. |
