For a very active thread, the Wiki seems outdated on many of the offers. Who is in charge of editing it?

15K for free matches CIBC's supposed in-branch FYF Aerogold signup bonus, so it seems to be the going rate right now. I'm surprised Amex isn't matching with Aeroplus Gold which IIRC is 15K but no FYF.

I'm not thrilled about it but I think I might go with the flow and sign up anyway.

Yes, 15K for free in the first year,
then 10K for $120 if you wish to renew for the second year.

Yeah pass. If I really needed the points, sure but I need to cool my apps.

I gave it a whirl on the gamble that I can get a prorated refund for the second year fees. We'll see what happens...

I only have about two or three cards I'm definitely planning to sign up for in the first half of 2017 (2 Amexes, 1 BMO MC), so I figure I can still accommodate a few churns of marginal cards. I'll probably give the CIBC Aero a go for 15K if I can get a branch to give me the FYF, maybe hit up the MBNA BW/AS again. There's not as much to go for now as compared to 2 years ago, so the hits don't matter to me as much.

Yeah, my upcoming sign-ups are:
1) Marriott Chase
2) MBNA Alaska
3) RBC Avion (going to couple with the Avion for business...$50 for 20k points)

OK, I haven't really been paying attention to the Alaska/Virgin America merger so I'm a little late to the game on this, but I see on OMAAT that Apr 30 is the last day for AS redemptions involving DL. This could affect many Canadians who rely on DL to use their AS points... at this point I'm not sure I'll bother churning the MBNA AS MC anymore since with 2 kids I can't swing the super aspirational AS redemptions and I don't care to pay for positioning flights to access the AS network once DL is no longer useful in that regard.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted.

Well...you can still book AA flights with AS miles. That makes them useful for Canadians.

I presume that requires AA metal and not just AA operated by WS?

And for other carriers. I find it useful to have multiple point programs on the go. For example I recently used a combo of AS and AA points to get my family of four one-way to HKG. Returning using AP points. So AS is still very useful to me.

The OMAAT post on converting SPG to Virgin to AS shows how you can get 1.625 AS points per SPG points which is quite interesting.
