The SPG amex is now the best card for Marriott and SPG stays within Canada due to the forex fee for international stays.
This starts November 15, so effective immediately. Does the SPG Amex in Canada give a break on forex fees? https://www.americanexpress.com/ca/e...d-credit-card/ It is a feature of the US SPG Amex card. https://www.americanexpress.com/us/c...eferred-guest/ |

The only Amex "enhancement" moving to Canada from the U.S. is the once-in-a-lifetime bonus feature. Yaay!
Once SPG card goes away (if it does)...I'll be pretty much done with Amex. I think the SPG card is on it's way out. I'm honestly surprised the Chase Marriott Visa has stuck around for as long as it has. They don't even include the 'apply now' link on their website (and haven't for a while), so that's telling. Canadians are not very lucky with the hotel branded cards... |
The link in the wiki says the Marriott Visa is 30k - isn't there a 50k version commonly available? Because I just received an e-mail with a 50k offer.

50k is targeted to elites. Saw it all the time when I was silver

The Chase Marriott Visa link in this thread's wiki is dumb, pointing to a 30K offer. For the 50K public offer, go to the Chase Marriott thread and use the link from there, it's the 50K offer. Or, as crimsona mentioned, if you're already Silver+ status with Marriott Rewards, you can find the 50K offer in your profile, online.

crap, my wife didn't cancel her marriott visa and we just got her statement with the annual fee on it. Can she call and cancel now without having to pay it?
I canceled mine 8 months ago, will I be eligible for a new card with the bonus points? Thanks |
Here's my previous response to a similar question...
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/26543438-post3199.html ... the Chase Marriott Visa is the only Canadian card I've ever held where they've resisted waiving the annual fee after the fee posted. And for Chase Marriott, upon issuing their annual fee, they would have already sent instructions to Marriott to credit me with a free night. Between those two companies, their systems aren't built to "undo" that kind of instruction automatically. |

Any idea how long to wait for reapplying for Marriott Visa after family member's the application was denied in early July for "too many recent applications"? No applications since than.

Unless I missed it, there hasn't been a signup bonus (through 3rd parties) for the MBNA SmartCash in the past 2 years has there?
Whenever there's a promo, it seems to be for the "MBNA Rewards". Which is fairly similar - but minus the 2X for grocery & gas. |
