Not just in Ontario. B.C. as well as Boxing Day fell on a weekend day.

Not to completely derail this, but Boxing Day is not a stat holiday in BC.

It is for government and many other employees. This year Boxing Day fell on a Saturday and with that the day off in lieu of the day fell on Monday.

Again, no, it is not.

It is not officially a stat holiday in BC, but ALL BC Gov't employees get that day off (or a day off in lieu, as was the case this year) - the same goes for Easter Monday, which is also not an official stat in BC. I'll take 'em - thank you very much! :)

BMO Air Miles question for you... my wife has the BMO Air Miles World MC. If she cancels and applies for the BMO Air Miles World Elite MC say, 6 months out, would she be eligible for the AM bonus miles? We need to have one of these cards for the 25% redemption discount, but I figure if we can get the signup bonus, then why not.

I seem to recall reading that BMO is a little less generous than other issuers when it comes to this sort of thing, so I thought I'd ask to see if anyone knows for sure.

It's statutory in your collective agreement? ;)

Colour me impressed with your negotiators. :)

By definition, statuatory means "by statute". Collective bargaining agreements can not make anything statuatory.

Well it's in my collective agreement language. Perhaps it refers to BC Labour law https://www.labour.gov.bc.ca/esb/fac...y_holidays.htm. My collective agreement actually refers to super-stats at an even higher premium (ie. Christmas Day, Good Friday and Labour Day) :)

Question. Has anyone been able to get CIBC to release a card shipped in-branch to a person other than the cardholder? A relative is travelling extensively and won't be able to go in-branch to pick up the card in time before they ship it back. Power of attorney, whatever, is not a problem, just curious if anyone's done it?

doubtful, unless they sign a letter with their ID authorizing you (with your ID), then maybe?

when I picked up, they obviously checked my ID which matched the envelope/package

Got lucky yesterday with the last day for TD 20,000 + FYF offer. It ended Jan4 not Dec 31 like I assumed. Anyway applied yesterday for my wife, took too long as I had to restart the application as there wasn't a continue button on the first page (bad IT I guess).

Instant approval and I'm glad I remembered as they are reducing the offers bit by bit each offer cycle (no surprise, it's TD after all).

Disappointing data point I thought I'd share: I did a product switch from my Tim's DoubleDouble Visa to an AeroPlatinum Visa. I was not eligible for the 5,000 point welcome bonus because I'd already held the Visa Aerogold Infinite card (2 years ago). I asked why because I'd never held the Platinum Visa before. I was told it was because it's in the same 'card family' (Aeroplan points). I was given 2,500 Aeroplan points as a retention bonus (they offered - I accepted...I have no other card I'm interested in switching to, except more no-fee cards)....

Has anyone had success product switching and receiving the associated welcome bonus after leaving more time in-between card switches within the same 'card family'?
