For Y, and arguably some J, you would have a good point; but flying those classes you could be much more flexible for carriers where the product does not differ substantially. |
Bonus points for CIBC aerogold business credited to aeroplan account 2 days after statement issue. Bonus points are distinction eligible.

Anyone have a Payso referral they'd like to give me?
Edit: got one now, thanks! |

Was just at YYZ terminal 1. Passed by a CIBC booth and they quickly preapproved me for FYF 15000 sign up bonus for the Aerogold Visa Infinite. Perhaps that is only a Pearson Airport specific offer? Rep told me they have a daily quota there, and they push sign-ups hard. 15000 rewarded on first purchase. Also the Aventura was on offer with FYF 15000 points.

Curiosity questions, if you don't mind... Are you an existing CIBC client (bank accounts, CCs, investments)? If yes, did the rep pull up your CIBC client info, and said you had a pre-approved credit limit offer on your file? Or was this the type of pre-approve where they are still going to pull your credit file for final approval? Too bad it's only 15,000. Wish they could match the 20,000 FYF offer of their Aero Business VISA promo. Or bring back the promo to $500 spend to get a bonus 10,000 points. Anyway, I recall that CIBC were pushing their presence in YYZ around Dec 2013, at the ending-edge of when they would be handing over their exclusivity with Aeroplan/AIMIA, onto TD in Jan 2014, and that they were 'sponsoring' the free luggage carts (no more fumbling for a toonie). They've really made a splash there now, with so many new branches (6?) and ABMs. It makes sense that they are offering this promo to keep their Aeroplan image ongoing, at Canada's busiest airport, even while TD are the main advertisers of an Aero-affiliated VISA credit card. I think I'll mosey on over to a branch in YYZ when I'm in there on my upcoming trip. Tnx. :D |

Thanks. JerryH also reported the same offer, a few weeks ago.

Tnx. :D FYF wasn't automatic but quick call to CIBC, they fixed it easily (as an exception) I wished I applied for Aeroplan Infinite instead of Aventura though, since I have no use for Aventura and it's no longer transferable. It's almost as bad as Air Miles, ha ha There were 2 ways to apply at YYZ branch (I was in T1 Domestic, CIBC branch was across from Timmy, down from the Plaza lounge/escalators after security). I was existing CIBC client (just got my Aerogold Business before YYZ) - You can apply via the computer, supposedly takes longer - You can apply via paper form if you're short on time. I did, staff wrote down stuff fast, I signed, off I go... only to have a 1-hour departure delay, ha |

Gave the lady my SIN, for some reason she said it wasn't matching (??) then she proceeded to call CIBC HQ or something like that for help. Somehow they pulled up an old profile of me which had an address I was at 5 years ago. I never remember doing any business whatsoever or even applying for any products with CIBC. But maybe I am remembering wrong and I applied for CIBC product years ago. I had to consent to allow them to check my credit, although I was approved on the spot. I don't know how it affected my credit since I don't have one of those credit check tools. Very convenient if you have some time to burn before your flight. Before the year is up I'll just switch it with the Tim Hortons no annual fee card and get another $20 sign up bonus. |
Not that Distinction levels are that rewarding, but at least it looks like an added bonus on this one. Hope they keep it that way till August 31st ...[/QUOTE]
I have not found distinction to be of any use for my travels but I don't mind getting to dblack incase I do find a use for it. |
Have people been converting RBC Avion points to a family member's BA Avios account?

I just attempted it... fingers crossed Apparently they check in your BA account: - country needs to be Canada - name needs to be the same - birthdate needs to be the same. Create a family BA Avios account and move them around. Points will automatically return to your account within 24 hours, at least it did in my case. |

Tried it, doesn't work.

I looked into it about a year ago and decided it looked like a hassle back then. Are they any complications? |
How often does Amex have point-to-miles conversion promos to BA? Anyone know? In a perfect world it'd be Aero, but that's not happening anymore... :(
